I remember watching this scene in Last of Us and saying, yeeha, it's so nice to hear Bahasa Indonesia in an apocalyptic sci fi !

Tonight, I watched a big-name writer bully another writer with a smaller presence. Basically, threaten to sue said writer.
I’m done with #Substack Notes. Watching this happen was the last straw for me. If this is how the “best” of Substack behaves, I want out.
I do not want to be somewhere where I’ll be subject to this toxicity or see others being subjected to it.
So, I will no longer be using Notes.
Am actually relieved cos I can now focus on what matters. -

I have more fun on #Mastodon than #Substack Notes. Why is that? 🤔 It's probably personal - I just feel a lot of pressure on #SubstackNotes, an air of competitiveness and lots of "look at me" posts.
Over here on Mastodon I have so carefully cultivated my feed and friends that I am only exposed to people who are laid back and just love to share their passion on various topics. I don't feel as pressured here. Hmm. -

I have over 80 #Substack subscriptions. I realise that I can't keep up. :( Am going to narrow down the list to those that I'll want to build a relationship with & who talk back ;P
#SubstackNotes is interesting but it is a LOT OF WORK to get noticed!
I need to be realistic and remind myself that I can't do it all,. Also a frustration - currently the ecosystem lacks diversity.Reading about US issues all the time was wearing me down.

CW: Racist troll on Substack
Probably the weirdest comment I got on the relatively tame and slow #SubstackNotes so far.
FYI minorities can be racists too.
Also, obviously he/she does not understand #malaysians
Dear idiot, I speak 4 languages. I switch comfortably between all, but write mostly in English. Also, Malaysians are not called "Malays". There are Chinese Malaysians, Malay Malaysians etc.
Oh the stupidity of some people. *Rolls eyes*

@_jpmh_ @krstf I used to do the 100 books a year thing until I realized I was not enjoying what I read. I have reduced it to 50 a year and I don't fuss if I don't meet said KPI. I am all for #slowreading

Work is 1/2 hour getting coffee to get the dopamine you need to start work, 1 hour of trying to start, 30 min of actual work, 1 hour of resting from actual work, 2 minutes of seeing Jira notifications and emails and saying fuck it and another hour of trying to get back to work.
Rinse repeat

Ok serious question to #Jira users. I find using it throughout the day strains and exhausts my brain due to the numerous links, UI features. And when I switch from one tab to another, especially to a Jira page, I suddenly forget what I am supposed to do on the Jira page. How do you all manage this??
Or is it just me??

Writing code is like plain ol writing, except that if you forget that one comma there will be hell to pay.

When people say #technicalwriting is stress free, we mean this.
We are just used to the roasting.

Currently on the 10the episode of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty. I am actually quite surprised I am still #watching - thought I'd be bored by now. Maybe cos I really like the dynamics between the two main characters - the cunning and witty investigator, and the hot tempered general, who are always at each other's throats.
We love the odd couple police drama, don't we?
