Celebrated #MalaysiaDay today with my son by participating in #KeretapiSarong, organised by #AKSARA, the #Perlis writers and literature association. We wore traditional clothes with sarong and boarded a train to the border town of Padang Besar.

Just had to perform first aid on a junior's second degree burns after some lab mishaps. I've never gone for first aid training before in my life but it just so happened to coincide with something I read up for my webcomic.
How strange it is that everything you've ever loved returns to you eventually.

#makanapatoday My favourite chee yok fun at Old Fatt Kee Puchong. Their prices are slightly on the higher side but they make up for it with huge portions. Their drinks are bottomless too.
They have a few branches in major shopping malls now but I still think Puchong (the original) is the best.

You know, I'm kinda glad that the Malaysian side of Mastodon seems to be small but thriving and overwhelmingly positive. I was always scared to interact with more Malaysians on other social medias because it would often get really toxic really quickly, even on the most innocuous posts.
So far, I haven't really encountered any of that here. Maybe I might start coming out of my shell a little more. #tootSEA #MYToots

I'm quite happy to find Malaysians with a similar worldview here on Mastodon. I grew up feeling alienated because I didn't believe in many of the conservative aspects of our society, to the point where people accused me of being "westernized" for not following gender roles and stereotypes.
I'm tired of people equating being slightly more progressive with being "western" and conservatism with being more "Asian". Don't give the mat saleh all the credit.
