Fish in the Percolator

  1. Just updated my system, and zsh was hanging on login.

    Fortunately I could get in through ssh and forcing bash. Rebuilding zsh-5.9-5 locally (while disabling architecture checks) fixed things up.

    Very much suspect, that the re-built package is maybe 30% larger (+2MB to a total of 8MB) than the one from the offical repos, did something go wrong with the official builds?

    So far the ARM-version broke more things for me, than the official team, so hm....

  2. Never been not relevant.
    James Acaster tells it how it is.

    current news. So, keep looking at the stuff! :)

  3. @ndrei dive away! :) The Mary Rose could be fun indeed. And now I regret not going into in Greenwhich, though at that time I wouldn't have appreciate it as much as I would do now.

    And I wonder if the Götheborg will ever go visit the UK... or come back to Asia as they did a decade ago! gotheborg.se/

  4. One of the most engaging games recently, Return of the . Beautifully done, with a surprise connection too.

    What's more, it does take 8+ hours to complete and still more than 44% people did finish it! That speaks to how well put together it is - challenging but doable and makes stay because it's interesting!

    It took me almost 11h, and even an hour before that I wasn't sure if I can do it, but if most people did, I might as well try!

  5. I wonder when will @frameworkcomputer start to actually sell to and not just create in Taiwan. 🛠️ :)

    ➕ And I also wonder how to score an office visit with them ;) Maybe by sharing related interests like this writeup of when I replaced my 10+ year old motherboard last year 🤪 gergely.imreh.net/blog/2022/07

  6. Does anyone use Archives here at all? It feels completely bonkers, but no matter what retention period I set for my archives, they expire/get deleted after less than 1 day, not really archiving anything at all...

    This feels like a fundamental archive flaw, but don't see anyone asking about it, so I might still be the dummy.

  7. Hm, this can actually be the 13.3.1 update, seems to have made networking quite funky. Between reboots right after another, I've seen:
    * normal download / broke upload;
    * half-speed download / normal upload;
    * normal speed but retry-heavy download / normal-ish upload

    On WiFi, measured with to another server on the LAN. A bit weird one,, have to keep an eye out for it...

  8. @pallenberg I'm an almost 20 years 😱 listener of , mostly , , and , as well as the channel where they overlay music with space mission audio (live and archived as well).
    Enjoy! 🎧

  9. @pallenberg this is how I celebrated it the other day

    I love the sass in the note too "_Clearly_ this popcorn has been enlarged... (don't be daft)" 😂🔎

  10. @bignose yeah, that's probably fair. And also not having all the used subdomains listed is more of play, if I need to keep any of them secure, better do it regardless of of the the information about the existence of that subdomain being widely or narrowly distributed.

    The "make a cert per subdomain" might be easy, while it also cuts against the "limit the number of moving pieces" aspect of administration, that I believe in (not to the extreme, but still).

  11. @ndrei nice! Not sure what my first thing was, but definitely went through , , , at various places of study and work too, and now , with a bit of , , thrown in somewhere....

    Long way back started out on but of course that's the odd one out here :P
