  3. W00t voted for moving to a graduated project by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) 's Technical Oversight Committee! 🥳

I covered it on a recent episode of OpenObservability Talks 🎧 :

Great work to all involved @opentelemetry 👏

  4. 📢 connector 2.0 is out!
Your helper to parallelize reads/writes across @apache.org Spark partitions and @opensearch.org shards just got a boost:
    ✅ Spark 3.5 and 4 support
    ✅ OpenSearch 3.x compatibility
    ✅ Amazon OpenSearch Serverless support
    and more

  5. Kotlin creator, Andrey Breslav, said at Madrid that the future of software engineering lies with spec-driven development (SDD). In essence, the boilerplate coding tasks will be taken care of by AI, and we'll all be doing architecture and design stuff, in higher levels of abstraction.

In that context, I'm proud of , the open source project developed by AWS, which brings a great SDD tool for developers:

  6. Do companies use Collector for production at serious scale?

YES! some even reach MILLIONS of collectors! 🤯

Andy Keller shared some impressive deployment stats from his experience at Bindplane and with OTel's project, on our chat at the latest OpenObservability Talks episode:

  7. Hot off : OpenTelemetry OpAMP now has a Gateway Exporter.

Here's how it works and how it can boost your scalability by orders of magnitude.

  8. Did you know that nodes have native support for and ?

We ran benchmarks comparing gRPC and REST, and saw significant reduction in:
    📉 payload size
    📉 latency
📉 CPU utilization (on both client & server sides)
    📉 client-side processing time

We also auto-generate the Protobuf definitions from the OpenSearch Project OpenAPI specifications to keep consistency across REST and gRPC APIs.

  9. Operating at Scale with Open Agent Management Protocol (a.k.a. )

  11. You already know that you can visualize your metrics from in Dashboard's Discover Metrics experience (if not, check the comments).

But what if we could add some sauce to detect anomalies and extrapolate forecasts?

Check out the new RFC for time series and in @OpenSearchProject and chime in with your feedback.

  20. Sentry is running a campaign for the new marketing term "fair source". Currently this boils down to their new Functional Source License (FSL).
So far there's not much traction: GitButler and four early stage startups.
What differentiation does this new category offer from source available?
And most importantly, it doesn't address the main concern:
When owned by a single vendor, project license is volatile. horovits.medium.com/b5486a4de1

  21. Open source Telemetry Controller developed by Sándor Guba, Axoflow founder and CTO, on top of OpenTelemetry Collector turns log streams into Kubernetes resources. It gives isolation and enables subscribing for log topics per relevance.
