Spec-driven development se stal jednou z nejviditelnějších odpovědí na vibe coding. Kiro od AWS, GitHub Spec Kit a Tessl ale pod stejným názvem dělají odlišné věci. Článek rozebírá, co SDD skutečně je, kde má smysl a kde jen přesouvá práci z kódu do Markdownu.

Kotlin creator, Andrey Breslav, said at #Codemotion Madrid that the future of software engineering lies with spec-driven development (SDD). In essence, the boilerplate coding tasks will be taken care of by AI, and we'll all be doing architecture and design stuff, in higher levels of abstraction.

I had a #vibe #coding session yesterday with my friend #kiro.

What I liked particularly well is the combination of explorative analytics and software generation in small increments: the session started with a single sample file of very complex data and we found out together, which kind of visualisation and interaction makes sense with this kind of data.

Sounds almost like you work for #AWS, except you'd be complaining #Kiro. With the recent, Kiro-caused outages, the "cover for mistakes" really sounds like AWS.

DynamoDB is arguably the biggest and most important serverless AWS product. And AWS' own LLM #Kiro doesn't know which features it has.

Today I used Kiro for my first spec driven development use case. I actually used Claude 4.5 to help drive what a good spec should good like, then filled this in tested it and completed the work in two iterations.

Typically this takes me 20+ iterations so SDD defitely makes things more efficient - though does require a bit more work upfront.

Really not wildy different from traditional software development - good specs make all the difference.
