    Here’s the main Canadian Encyclopedia entry for the US invasion of Canada in the War of 1812 for reference.

    This was the not the first time however that the United States attempted to share its revolution further north however. That invasion wasn’t embraced by Quebec quite the way the Americans expected despite the best efforts of propaganda, not to mention an assault on the walled city of Quebec under the command of US General Richard Montgomery in a snowstorm on December 31, 1775.

  2. @cjmoorehead @Utah44 @TonyStark I’m sure the #RCMP would look into this if they weren’t so busy picking at their bellybutton lint. And #CanadianMediaFailsMiserably to even raise the issue because their reporting consists mainly in parroting whatever BS is put out there. Gone are the days when the #FourthEstate advocated for citizens and positioned political issues accurately. They’ve transformed into #FourthEstateFilth.

  3. @cjmoorehead @gemelliz Luis Galindo Launder, Anaida Poilievre’s father, a former bank manager in Venezuela, “allegedly” laundered money for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
    José Gerardo Galindo Prato, Anaida Poilievre’s uncle, “allegedly” involved in the commission of crimes of helping the escape of detainees & association with Organized Crime & the Financing of Terrorism. #PP, the #SeducedStoogeOfTheAnaidaGalindoClan #CdnMedia oh look, belly button lint.

    @cjmoorehead @FuzzyWuzzy

    LOL, no, I wouldn't go this far...I just went for the text that I could see initially:

    "His unlikability is so reliable as to actually constitute a talent of its own, if one could monetize irritation."

    Missing: "one of the two most-hated people on the planet".

    #Musk #Elmo #QLoon

  5. @cjmoorehead @FuzzyWuzzy

    Hm, before I enlarged the pic, so I could see his face, I thought it were #QLoon, also known as #Elmo. My bad. ;)

  6. @cjmoorehead @dangillmor

    ...
    I just boosted a mini-bio of #PeterThiel. #QLoon is his buddy from #PayPal times.
    #JackDorsey is even named in the longer thread. #Bluesky might be a new/additional attempt.
    My guess is that #TruthSocial is not effective enough, as it is build on #Mastodon technology, from what I've read. With #Jack's new tech baby, they'd also have technological control.

    And the #Thiel tech projects always seem to be high-tech, measured by the aforementioned thread.

  7. @cjmoorehead @gemelliz This is what #fordSupporters want. A #corrupt #SelfServing buffoon who will line their pockets alongside the hefty increases #DoFo enjoys in his own financial and physical girth. May he expand until he bursts. #cdnMedia oh look, belly lint. #OnPoli oh look, a minivan.

  8. @monicarooney @cjmoorehead Yes, no longer #Cabbagetowners - we have a good decade of memories. If you and the family ever decide to come to the #StratfordFestival let us know and we can visit! We are very near the main theatre.

    #Conservatives know how to fall in behind their guy. The question in #Polievre’s case is how?! The dude isn’t a leader; he has zero charisma and every time he speaks it’s like nails on a chalkboard. He’s a petulant child.

    Where dies this discipline stem from?

    @npilon @cjmoorehead

  11. @georgetakei While this is a grift of gargantuan proportions, I can’t really feel much sympathy for its “victims”. MAGA types are literally the stupidest creatures ever to walk upright…they will believe ANYTHING that reinforces their existing prejudices. This, combined with their insatiable greed, makes them perfect marks…conning them is about as difficult as putting on a hat. #USpol

    Our house made the cover of Our Homes magazine! My wife @kteahen wrote a blog post describing exactly how this came to be.

  13. Day 18 of the #BeerAdventCalendar brings us Juice Punch New England IPA, from the Frontaal Brewing Co. in Breda, The Netherlands. Apparently, this one took the Silver Medal at the Dutch Beer Challenge in 2022, and the Gold Medal in 2023. Brewed with three different hop varieties (Citra, Mosaic, and Sabro), it’s a very hazy NEIPA with a big flavour, including hints of citrus, stone fruit, and coconut. I can see why it’s award winning — this is a good one, and a refreshing change after a few days of somewhat anemic selections. I would definitely buy this if I could find it!

  18. @monicarooney Ugh. I remember one year (I’m thinking 2017 or 2018) getting dragooned by the Forsythia Festival organizers into tying the strings on all those glazed doughnuts. For days afterward (despite multiple showers) I stuck to everything I touched. #Cabbagetown

  19. RIP Kevan Staples. Growing up in North Bay in the late 1970s, I remember the first time I ever heard Rough Trade on the radio — it was "What's All the Furor About the Führer?" from Avoid Freud. To me, it was like hearing music from another planet (my first thought was "WTF is THIS?"), and it sent me into a punk/post-punk phase of my life that I've never left. I've lost track of the number of times I saw Rough Trade live (including their very last show) or Carole Pope solo (the latest being last fall in Stratford). With Kevan's passing, the world has become emptier. cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/kev #RoughTrade #CanadianMusic

  20. An #introduction, or reconnection for those who used to follow me at that Bird thing: I’m a professional engineer and designer with a keen interest in #DesignLeadership, #DesignOps, #UX, #InfoDesign, #DataViz, and #Typography. I currently work as the Head of UX at a major financial software company, where I lead the UX research, product design, design operations, technical writing, and localization teams. Before moving to the tech sector, I worked in management consulting, and, prior to that, I was a mechanical and industrial engineer working in aerospace and defence. When I’m not at my day job, I teach design at OCAD, where I’ve been a faculty member for over a decade. I’ve lived in Toronto for most of my adult life but given that my employer is now permanently remote I recently moved to the small town of Stratford, where my partner @kteahen and I have a house which is about to undergo a major renovation. 🤞
