Trump publica un mapa en el que la bandera de Estados Unidos cubre México, el Caribe y Canadá

El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, compartió este lunes en su red Truth Social un mapa en el que las franjas rojas y blancas de la bandera estadounidense cubren México, el Caribe y Canadá, además de Groenlandia e Islandia.

Trump publicó ese mapa sin ningún comentario en su red Truth Social, horas después de haber sugerido, en la misma red social, que el estado estadounidense de Nuevo México debería renombrarse y denominarse «Nueva América», en línea con su reclamación sobre el «Golfo de América».

El presidente acostumbra a difundir en esa red social memes e imágenes generadas por sus simpatizantes o por inteligencia artificial, y no está claro el origen del mapa que publicó este lunes.

No obstante, el mandatario ha dejado claro en su segundo mandato sus ambiciones expansionistas sobre territorios como Groenlandia o incluso Canadá, y no ha descartado una intervención militar para tomar Cuba.

Sheinbaum dice que México «no es colonia de ningún país»

Por su parte, la presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum, afirmó que el territorio mexicano «no es ni será colonia ni protectorado de ningún país extranjero», luego del mapa publicado por Trump.

«En el mes de la patria, reafirmamos que México no es ni será colonia ni protectorado de ningún país extranjero», escribió la mandataria en la red social X en el marco del mes de septiembre, fecha en la que se celebra la Independencia del país.

Sheinbaum reiteró que México es un «país libre, independiente y soberano» frente a las recientes provocaciones de Trump, quien publicó en su red Truth Social dicho mapa en donde denomina el Golfo de México como el «Golfo de América» y sobrepone sobre el territorio mexicano las franjas rojas y blancas de la bandera estadounidense.

Lo anterior ocurre horas después de que el mandatario estadounidense sugiriera que el estado de Nuevo México debería denominarse «Nueva América».

La sugerencia la hizo a partir de la publicación de una fotografía del perímetro del estado con el nuevo nombre y con la palabra «México» tachada en rojo y reemplazada por «América».

Las tensiones por las declaraciones de Trump

La imagen, compartida también por la Casa Blanca en X, se dio a conocer apenas días después de que Trump firmara una orden ejecutiva para cambiar el nombre del lago Ontario, que hace frontera entre EE.UU. y Canadá, por el de «Lago América».

La semana pasada el mandatario estadounidense también arremetió contra México, al asegurar que el país no tiene nada que ofrecer a Estados Unidos, más que «tamales picantes y tomates», al tiempo que advirtió que no interrumpiría la relación comercial con su homóloga mexicana, Sheinbaum.

En 2025, Trump utilizó una orden ejecutiva para cambiar el nombre del Golfo de México a Golfo de América y recientemente sugirió que el estrecho de Ormuz, en Oriente Medio, y por donde pasa el 20 % mundial del petróleo, debería renombrarse como «estrecho de Trump». –sn–

Washington.- El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, dijo este sábado que hay «1.000 misiles armados y preparados y apuntados» hacia Irán para atacar al país si Teherán intenta asesinarlo, después de que surgieran informaciones según las cuales Israel habría advertido a Washington de un supuesto plan iraní para matarlo.

«Hay 1.000 misiles armados y preparados y apuntados hacia la República Islámica de Irán, seguidos inmediatamente por miles más, en caso de que el gobierno iraní lleve a cabo su amenaza», escribió el mandatario en su red social, Truth Social, en un mensaje publicado la noche del viernes.

Trump aseguró que ha dado órdenes al Ejército de «diezmar totalmente y destruir todas las zonas de Irán» en caso de que las autoridades del país persa lo asesinen o traten de asesinarlo, y dijo que la orden tiene un período de validez de un año, «sujeto a ampliaciones».

El republicano firmó su mensaje escribiendo «¡Alabado sea Alá! Presidente Donald J. Trump».

La advertencia de Trump a Irán

Trump ya había asegurado, en una entrevista con el medio estadounidense The New York Post, que dio instrucciones al Pentágono para bombardear Irán a «niveles nunca antes vistos» en caso de que sea asesinado como resultado de un complot de la República Islámica.

«Llevo mucho tiempo en su lista. Es a lo que nos enfrentamos», declaró Trump en una entrevista con The New York Post. «He dejado instrucciones: si pasa algo, que los bombardeen literalmente a niveles que nunca antes hayan visto», añadió.

Trump respondió así a informaciones de prensa según las cuales Israel puede haber advertido a Estados Unidos de que Irán estaría desarrollando un nuevo plan para asesinarlo.

No obstante, en la misma entrevista el mandatario dio a entender que no existe un complot reciente, aunque sostuvo que Teherán lo considera un objetivo desde hace años: «No, no. Israel no ha dicho nada. No, no», afirmó. «He estado en el número uno durante mucho tiempo, y así es la vida, ¿sabes?».

«Espero que me echen de menos», agregó, al ser preguntado por un eventual asesinato.

Supuesto complot de Irán para asesinar a Trump

La advertencia se produce en medio de una nueva escalada de tensiones entre Washington y Teherán, marcada por recientes enfrentamientos militares y amenazas cruzadas que han puesto fin al alto el fuego alcanzado el mes pasado.

Trump ya había reconocido el miércoles, durante su participación en la cumbre de la OTAN en Turquía, que es uno de los principales objetivos de Irán, y vinculó esas amenazas con el asesinato del general iraní Qasem Soleimani en 2020, en una operación ordenada durante su primer mandato.

Por otro lado, Irán enterró este jueves al líder supremo, Alí Jameneí, fallecido en un bombardeo el primer día de la ofensiva lanzada por Estados Unidos e Israel contra la República Islámica, el pasado 28 de febrero.

Una vez más, no apareció en público su hijo y sucesor, Mojtaba Jameneí, a quien no se ha visto desde el 28 de febrero ni tampoco desde que el 8 de marzo fue designado líder supremo, y sobre cuyo estado de salud no han cesado de circular todo tipo de rumores.

Negociaciones con una tregua acabada

Trump también anunció que su país mantendrá negociaciones con Irán para poner fin al conflicto, aunque insistió en que el alto el fuego acordado el mes pasado ya terminó.

Estados Unidos e Irán firmaron el pasado 17 de junio un memorando de entendimiento para poner fin a la guerra, desbloquear el estrecho de Ormuz y abrir negociaciones sobre el programa nuclear iraní.

Pero los dos últimos días de intercambios de ataques en el golfo Pérsico han dejado el alto el fuego colgando de un hilo y han causado al menos 14 muertos en suelo iraní.

Teherán sostiene que las acciones estadounidenses «han dejado sin efecto partes clave y fundamentales» del memorando firmado, mientras que Trump fue más allá y dio por acabado el alto el fuego. –sn–

Odd thing to take credit for, particularly when he notes he didn't actually have anything to do with releasing him, and credits the victim's daughter for that effort.
