Washington.- Estados Unidos lanzó este martes una serie de ataques contra Irán en represalia por el derribo de un helicóptero estadounidense en el estrecho de Ormuz, informó el Comando Central (Centcom).

El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, había advertido este mismo martes que habría represalias por el ataque iraní del lunes, a pesar de que el ataque no dejó víctimas.

«Las fuerzas del Comando Central de EE.UU. (Centcom) comenzaron a lanzar ataques de autodefensa contra Irán» a las 17.00 hora local de Washington (21.00 GMT) «en respuesta al derribo ayer de un helicóptero Apache del Ejército de EE.UU.», explicó en un comunicado.

El Centcom agregó que «la misión es una respuesta proporcional a la injustificada agresión iraní», pero no detalló cuáles fueron los objetivos atacados.

Trump anunció este martes represalias por el derribo del Apache: «Estados Unidos debe, necesariamente, responder a este ataque», advirtió en su red Truth Social.

¿Qué se sabe del derribo del helicóptero por Irán?

El helicóptero estadounidense cayó cerca de la costa de Omán, donde los dos soldados a bordo sobrevivieron, según informó el Centcom.

Fuerzas estadounidenses rescataron a los dos tripulantes del helicóptero AH-64 Apache a las 19:33 horas del este de Estados Unidos (23:33 GMT del lunes).

También el lunes, en el golfo de Omán, el Ejército estadounidense disparó a un buque petrolero por violar el bloqueo que Washington impone desde el 13 de abril contra embarcaciones que salen y llegan a puertos iraníes.

Estos hechos ocurren en medio de los nuevos enfrentamientos en la región, donde Irán e Israel han intercambiado ataques en los últimos días, lo que llevó a Trump a exigir el lunes el fin «inmediato» de los disparos, también por parte de su aliado israelí.

El presidente estadounidense dijo en la madrugada de este martes que podría alcanzar un acuerdo con Irán en «dos o tres días», el enésimo plazo que plantea tras varias semanas de negociación con la República Islámica. –sn–
