In addition to being a Black nerd in the 1960s, here's another source of childhood trauma, never fully healing because, the same thinking behavior is still widespread.
The ideology of being Latino is rooted in a colonial past just like the word itself, so there is still this automatic anti-Blackness that comes with darker-skin and what is presumed more African features and being told, “you don't count.”
