Ars Technica: “Super ZSNES” is a stab at a modern SNES emulator from the original developers. “ZSNES developed rapidly (alongside the contemporary, competing Snes9x project) throughout the late ’90s and early 2000s. Updates slowed after the original creators left the project, and new releases ceased entirely around 2007. But a successor to ZSNES has arrived.”

You remember #ZSNES, your first #SuperNintendo #emulator ?
Here's « Super ZSNES », the comeback but with refinements. Entire #SNES graphics processing is no longer handled by the CPU but the GPU using shaders, not just filters but the entire display : sprites, transparency, backgrounds, Mode 7 … and this makes possible high resolution without using an upscaler, to add a whole range of filters and even to have a true 16:9 mode 🎮

#Zsnes, the famous #SNES emulator, is back from the dead. Its original devs reunited and launched Super ZNES, a complete rewrite in #Unity designed to use modern GPU capabilities and more accurate emulation. It's still an alpha and is guaranted without vibe coding.
Don't know about the license yet (last version published in 2007 was GPL-2.0-only)

#ZSNES was the best emulator in the early 2000s, it was one of the only #SNES emulators that worked almost flawlessly! Which was notable because most emulation back then was very hit and miss!
