Delighted today to receive the 2nd edition of David McGrogan/Noisms’ Yoon-Suin, The Purple Land. The 1st edition is one of my favourite #TTRPG settings ever, full of strangeness & smoke-wreathed, bejewelled detail.

The new edition is much heftier (see the 2nd pic) & is a very handsomely printed book.

The 3rd picture shows the two editions together, plus The Halls of the Shimmering Stars in the Deep Blue Firmament, a PDF some 1st edition backers received.

So my latest idea is to ruin #Grimwild using #YoonSuin as a basis.

I want to run some Grimwild but I also don't want to just do that in a similar setting to other games I've run. I did have ideas about using the same background as the PF2 game I ran, but why not run #PF2 if I want to do that? No, something different.

I have all the Thousand Thousand Islands PDFs as well which I may use on top/instead. But they are not campaign settings as such.

@Whidou Wow you are being on the forefront of new releases and actually playing them. I back #yoonsuin 2e myself. Sad to hear the didn't polish the useability for the table.
With #cairn 2e and also #knave2e I am very reluctant, because they didn't convince me through their campaign and in terms of #knave2e even disappointed quite a bit with the few glimpses I got from the videos of it.

I ran #YoonSuin 2E with #Cairn 2E yesterday, trying both at once.
The stronger implied setting in Cairn 2E, mainly through the backgrounds, clashed a bit with the south-Asian setting, I feel like the first Cairn was easier to use with other flavours of fantasy.
Regarding Yoon-Suin, this new edition should have been the occasion to modernize it. It feels very old school, and not in a good way. The new short adventures felt clunky to use, with no easy way to find relevant info quickly.

Wish I was playing:
* Mythic Bastionland, enjoyed reading it, a nice twist on the #IntoTheOdd formula;
* My #dungeon23 (lol), sprawling under a parking;
* Non-horror space-op, I should give one of those #Cepheus variants a read, wouldn't mind some cyberpunk themes mixed in.

Are weights in Yoon-Suin really provided in centinewtons, or is cn the abbreviation of some kind of obscure imperial unit? :blob_gnikniht:

The chapter on drugs seems to imply that a 100 lbs dose is roughly equivalent to 1000 cn, so it might be a tenth of a pound or something like that?

Just when I though unit conversions in anglo #TTRPG couldn't get more complex than they already are… :blobfearful:

- a Crab-Man 🦀
- an Elf of Lamarakh
- a Human thief

We:
- arm-wrestled 🐙 in a tea house
- agreed to clear a Slug-Man's ghost-haunted quarry in the Topaz Islands
- found a floating market
- bought a magic teapot and magic rope
- under sail, survived a harpy attack! 😬
- investigated site of an ancient battle & statues by the quarry
- survived a ghost attack! 👻
- worked out & fixed what had made the ghosts so mad, then sailed home 😎
