The Cairn RPG: Barebones Edition is now available!
https://yochaigal.itch.io/cairn-barebones-edition?download
If you don’t know, Cairn is written by Yochai Gal and is based on Chris McDowall’s Into the Odd RPG. It’s an OSR/NSR rules light tabletop rpg that uses roll under d20 rolls for most things. Class-less, Level-less, with diegetic, progression.
Check it out if want to try something different for your elf games.

I started a thread on the RPG Cauldron Discourse forums to create a d100 table of magic rings for the Cairn RPG.
Check it out and contribute a cool ring of your own.

My friend is running Nimble for our next campaign. Looks interesting, but I feel like the 5e compatible sticker is stretching it. It’s an interesting blend of 5e, PF2, and NSR games like Into the Odd and Knave.
I’m trying my hand as a Commander.

This hefty tome just appeared on my door step!

Tonight in #MythicBastionland, a trip across the realm. We met at least one omen for each myth: a star to watch, a wyvern to kill, a rude possessed minstrel to handle…
I'm getting the hang of the game: being more liberal in the interpretation of omens makes for more dynamic play, and a layer of courtly intrigue makes the realm meatier rather than only using it as a backdrop for myths.
We are doing one season per session, and already reached the end of the first age 🧓.

Tonight in #MythicBastionland, our two new knights actually survived.
The Snare Knight and Hooded Knight encountered the morbid Reliquary knight ruling over the ossuary tower, faced the threats of the Mist and the Demon, and encountered their first seer, the Lens Seer.
Myths from the book are often a bit light on what the knights can actually do to prevent the worst from happening. Arbitrating what works and what does not requires more referee fiat than I expected. 🤔

Last night's #CERN #Games Club event for the #RPG curious was a great success!
We had seven tables running various games including #DnD, #BladesInTheDark, #BladeRunner and #IntoTheOdd. Three of the GMs were from #SwissRPG. I didn't count exactly but I think we had about 50 participants, with around 25% coming from outside CERN.
I ran the #DCC #funnel "Underneath the Well of Brass". 8 players, 2 characters each, mortality rate was about 50%.

I am looking forward to this KS. It is almost over but I love the authors other works and what's not to love about a rules lite werewolf game?

CW: in which b4ux1t3 has reveals he's actually just a graybeard OSR shill
Or: Just run #MorkBorg or #Knave or #IntoTheOdd or #CairnRPG or #Mausritter or any number of other, smaller, lighter-weight RPGs so that you can get comfortable with being a GM before you take on a mechanics-heavy system.

Which #Kickstarter looks more promising to the #osr #nsr folk here, #knave2e or #cairn2e ? And why? I actually don't need "another ruleset" I am more interested in streamlined processes to play old school adventures. I really love the #intotheodd system. Also taking a look into the #dolmenwood rules and trying to decide for one ruleset.

Looking for Actual Play podcasts (even video podcasts) for any of the following games:
#MorkBorg (and any compatibles)
#Mausritter
#CairnRPG
#IntoTheOdd
#BladesInTheDark
#MCDMRPG (Hahahaha Hahahaha)No real reason, just kind of in the mood for some non-d&d actual plays to put on while I'm stuck inside this winter.

And RPG a Day continues (for me, as I only post whenever I find some time at work) so... Today is 11) Weirdest game I've played.
That is a very good question. To be honest, I think the most "normal" game I play is Legend of the 5 Rings 5e, the rest of the games I usually DM go from Call of Chtulhu to Numenera to Into the Odd so... Mostly on the weird end of the spectrum.
But I think the weirdest one (and most bizarre) was a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure I ran for my friends in 2020 for a year. I used the Cypher System, modified it a bit and made a "sequel" to Steel Ball Run in the 1960s, where one of the players was J(Joestar)FK and his top security man (William Greer, another player) had prophetic dreams about the demise of JJFK. Turns out that the Majestic 12, the Serpent People (it acted as a sequel of sorts of the campaign The Two Headed Serpent from Chtulhu Pulp where most of the MJ12 are the alternate bad incarnations of the PCs of the other campaign), the guild of Assassins (who had a member infiltrated on the PCs' group) and a part of the US Government wanted him dead.
Every PC had a Stand, most enemies had one, there were also vampires and I basically mixed every conspiracy theory I know.
It was weird, indeed.

@lolbat I've been looking at #BlackSwordHack myself. It's a hack of #TheBlackHack which itself is a hack of 5e. Both are good options for similar, more streamlined rules with heroic player characters.
If heroic PCs aren't what you'relooking for, I like Mark of the Odd games (like #IntoTheOdd ) the most similar version to 5e is #IntoTheDungeon:Revived
