My partner brought back some #sunscreen from a trip to #Greece. I was looking at the directions on it, and they're quite a bit different from what I'm used to on North American brands. They included this:

Given the metric tensor g_ij, with i and j being 0, 1, 2 or 3 at a given point in space. We also have a fixed three dimensional unit vector e^i with i being 1, 2 or 3. Using Einstein Notation define
\alpha = (1/g_{ij} e^i e^j) \left( \sqrt{ (g_{0i} e^i)^2 - g_{00}} - g_0i e^i \right)
Can we show that alpha is invariant under coordinate transformation. I asked an AI, said "yes". But????

A 3/4 (55 cm) #violin 🎻 [1] for the American chap whose posts I saw on Reddit whilst researching what was involved in changing #sparkplugs - it turns out in USA-land torque values for these are sometimes quoted in *inch*-pounds, but he got confused and ended up borrowing a ft-lbs #torquewrench, tried to put put 150 ft-lbs (203 Nm!) on a plug that should be about 150 inch-pounds (17 Nm). and wondered why the plug was still loose, and his truck was misfiring.
Luckily for him the ceramic had broken before the threads stripped in the cylinder head and the garage was able to extract the broken plug and he was back on the road.
[1] just the right size for a small child of about age 10 to play, and to suggest to the old man that using #metric units really isn't a bad idea..
