Oh say fellow kids, I don’t want to alarm anyone, but, #Saudi #Aramco has declared force majeure on multiple September crude oil deliveries to #European buyers, citing the continued closure of its East-West pipeline as an operational constraint with no confirmed restoration date.
The declaration, issued after a September 10 drone attack damaged the pipeline, removes an estimated three to five million barrels from the near-term supply picture and has caused Brent crude premiums to spike to new highs.
#forcemajeure is basically the “act of god” clause, when something outside of the control of the contractee makes it impossible to perform the contract. The #gas problem in #Europe just got a lot worse.
