Just finished "Radio Silence" by Alice Osman (who wrote "Heartstopper")

It's an excellent book. One of the main characters, Aled Last, is a side character in Heartstopper. Book-Aled is quite different from show-Aled. Not nearly as quietly confident. It started slow, but by the time it got going I was hooked. I appreciated the main relationship being platonic, a deep friendship between a girl and a boy.
This reminded me of *Eliza and her monsters* by Francesca Zappia, it has a similar premise: an anonymous teen creator of fantastical online story struggling with their fandom, but I prefer the way *Radio Silence* handles those themes. In fact the main character of *Radio Silence, *Frances,  is good at blurting out awkward truths instead of drawing out the drama by refusing to speak. 
There is a pet death but it's off-page and not dwelt on. But still really sad.
This is overall quite a sad book, but hopeful with lots of found-family warmth.
