Yesterday I released version 1.0.0 of #wtr (Work Time Recorder), the tool I use to do #TimeTracking in the various projects I work on (on a computer, so time spent at work, time spent for my customers, and time spent on #FreeSoftware projects).

I have been using this for 2+ years, so I wrote a blog post where I compare how I contributed to Free Software in 2025 compared to 2024.

The daemon has a companion CLI application that is used to query the data, wtr(1).

It also feature some extra commands to fix issues, like when you have to reach out of the house after receiving a phone call and some extra time was added to a project, or in the opposite if you had a meeting on a project and that time was not properly recorded.

The month of May had a bunch of free days, so I wondered what to do…

I contribute to a bunch of #FreeSoftware, at home and at work, and have basically no idea of the time I spend on each project.

As a systems administrator, I like to have metrics.

All #TimeTracking software I tried sucks: you have to tell it "I start to do stuff" and "I stopped doing stuff", 2 toil things I am 100% confident to forget to do.
