HD Hyundai HHI now has ammonia-fueled 2.2MWe & 5.4MWe dual-fuel DI ICE engines.↙️Hyundai claims a Selective Catalytic Reduction #SCR system will eliminate toxic ammonia & nitrogen oxide emissions.↘️
NOTE: SCR systems are ineffective on cold starts!
-They need high temperatures (around 200C - 250C) to work, leading to high temporary ammonia & NOx emissions.
-The Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health #IDLH concentration for ammonia is 300 parts per million (ppm)! #woops -
