  1. We did a regular very short stroll around Wooler Common today and for the first time noticed this beautiful Small-leaved Lime (Tillia cordata) right next to the path. I've never actually identified this before, so very pleased to have seen it. And in marvellous health too (the tree, not me). #Tree #Wood #Nature #Wooler #Northumberland

  2. Nice gentle one with @ivan_t_dog this morning. Walking the downhills because his elbows are playing up. And, to be honest, walking a lot of the uphills because my legs are aching. Quite warm when you're sheltered from the breeze, but the wind has a proper bite when you're exposed to it.

Had to come back through a field of Belted Galloways, but fortunately they were quite relaxed about us being there.

  3. Nice run out from Wooler with @ivan_t_dog this morning, just a gentle combination of canicross and free running/walking. (We'd both worked hard enough yesterday.)

Glorious morning after the recent foul weather, and a really nice route in surprisingly good condition, just a couple of boggy patches. Barely got my socks damp!

  8. Beautiful morning for a walk along the Maelmin Heritage Trail.
This reconstruction is based on the late Neolithic/early Bronze Age Milfield North henge, located in a nearby field. It was one of many henges along the Till Valley, overlooked by the Cheviot hills.

  9. For #HillfortsWednesday here is Humberton Hillfort near Wooler in Northumberland. Within the ramparts are hut circle remains and a 17th century cairn. Great views over the Cheviot Hills.
