@bekopharm
WOW, I thought I was the only one who still occasionally used #wings3d. Now I tend to reach for #blender to do a quick job; #freecad still for precision work though.All of my #sweethome3d models for large shelving units, wall partitions, and storage cases are made from multiple simple cubes and grouped into a single part.

Needed a rough 3d model of a bunk bed I found online. No idea why such files are not provided on the product page of furniture. Ah well. Usually I'd do that in #Wings3D but that has currently very sluggish mouse input on Wayland so I decided to give #FreeCAD a go. No previous knowledge of this but ~2h later I found out enough to create a model based on the construction manual of the bed (well minus the ladder).
Good enough to import this into #SweetHome3D and to plan some modifications.

@AliveDevil dunno for FreeCAD but my trick with #Wings3D was to export it to STL and do that with #inkscape
Does #FreeCAD have an export for this? I'm almost sure it does.

A new Version of #FreeShip is out I helped the developer to add a new import format, this now helps many that need to convert Subdivision Surfaces into #IGES, because now you can import VRML2 files I use #Blender to export into OBJ and then I convert OBJ into VRML2 with #Wings3D an application that preserve the quad topology, also #opensource, and still developed, sadly others app do a triangulations and you lose the topology information. #CAD #boat #design https://github.com/markmal/freeship-plus-in-lazarus/releases/tag/v5.3.1.537

Wow. Most of this went right over my head but I get excited just from reading about this sort of stuff: https://blog.froggi.es/bringing-vulkan-raytracing-to-older-amd-hardware/
I mean I did play with ray tracing to some extend with Wings3D and the POV-Ray and YafaRay ray tracing programs back than and I still use it for some speed modelling. In fact the last time I touched this was this very year and I was so happy that at least YafaRay did Just Work™ on my Fedora Linux PC.
APC unit made for the MAXR game in Wings3DI re-used a scene that I created over a decade ago and while the result had slightly different lightning it isn’t really noticeable after converting and compression of the rendered files.
So yeah people, please do keep this stuff alive, k thanks 😀

Mobile Blade – Indoor HEMA Practise Sword
Mobile Blade – Indoor HEMA Practise Sword (Enable subtitles!)How I built my HEAM indoor practise sword. This video shows the assembly of my own Mobile Blade Indoor Trainer.
This practise sword variant was designed by Thomas from Medieval Review. The OBJ files can be downloaded on Thingiverse. Additional required parts are listed there too.
