    Multi-scale 'percent elevation range'.

    Computed PER at 51, 17 and 7px radius, combined into R,G,B bands
    Then applied a contrast stretch

    Helps to highlight barrows and what I suspect are old field patterns?

  2. Trying to take a look at ways to measure contrast and accessibility of maps.

    Here, looking at OpenStreetMap tiles, and contrast

    Used QGIS raster calculator to convert to greyscale (by luminance), then applied the whiteboxtools 'range filter' with a 3x3 kernel

    Colourised with Rocket colour scale. Yellow and white show the highest contrast, black is areas of solid colour.

  23. Going for an ascii art look. Jan Mayen, data from Norwegian Polar Institute. Done in :qgis:

    Did a D8 flow pointer in #whiteboxtools. This quantizes downslope aspect to 8 directions

    Create grid in #qgis. Sample the d8 raster and original dem. Style with 8 different SVG arrow markers rotated around center, using thicker arrows for SE-facing to simulate hillshade. Filter out all the points with 0 elevation to mask out the sea.

    Used #qgis with #whiteboxtools. Specifically, Elevation Percentile with a kernel radius of 100. This assigns a colour using rank within a 100-pixel radius neighbourhood.

  25. An #Edinburgh DEM, where buildings were removed, just leaving the roads and some flat areas.

    Rendered in #blender. Used the #qgis #whiteboxtools algorithm 'MapOffTerrain objects' and QGIS raster calculator to mask the DEM so buildings vanish, leaving just the roads.

    Camera focused on Castlehill, and pivots from facing NW to SW and back again.

In the image, sites that are non-impoundable by a 25-m dam are white and the darker blue a pixel is, the larger the upslope impoundment is.
