Honestly, how much money could be saved by cutting stuff we don't need from the Military Industrial Complex when thousands of drones and the pilots to fly them are what we need.

I remain unconvinced that these things are anything more but lumbering behemoths in the Drone War. They are what Battleships were to the WWII theatre, powerful but vulnerable and outdated by new developments, (ironically 'Aircraft Carriers')
Thinking about how much of the Russian Navy Ukraine has taken out without any aircraft carriers or missile cruisers

Labour has left our nation undefended from Russian and American aggression.

Personally I don't think we should have nukes at all, though I accept that reasonable people may take different views.
But surely if we must have nukes, then we shouldn't need permission from a hostile foreign power before we can use them. That's unbelievably bonkers.

Thank you. The article states that when they are retired (most are still in service), they will have served over 40 years. I hope compelling MPs to discuss the matter will force them to quantify that cost of refurbishment and associated training, and where that money gets spent (probably mostly in the UK), and weigh that up against the benefit it would confer to Ukraine, and the other spending options that might compete for that money. I understand we're committing 5% of GDP on defence spending. I'd love to see it spent in the UK.
