    I wish I were a tree

    I wish I were a tree.

    Rooted to one place.
    Friend of the wind.
    Sun bather.
    Rain catcher.

    Home to many.
    Servant to seasons.
    Shade to the hot human.

    I am sure I would find the prunings painful,
    the winters cold,
    and perhaps I would worry about the inevitable fall.

    But I doubt it.

    For the roar of sap within and the caress of the elements without would drown out all other noisy distractions from what it means to simply
    be
    Tree.
