Patagonia Provisions cans a smoked wild-caught salmon with pastrami seasoning. If you think that sounds unappetizing, it's much better than you might imagine. Interesting article from Ambrook Research on the growth in locally canned tinned seafood in the US. Hard to believe, though, that it came as a surprise to a commercial fisherman that tinned tuna was "a prized food fish".

As an aside, try changing up your #ramen game as follows, for healthier results:
1. Discard 1/4 of the noodle brick before cooking. Processed calories.
2. Add veg, such that there are more veg than #noodles. Healthful.
3. Don't drink the broth at the end. Sodium. -

My dudes, I have concerns about the future of #UnsolicitedNoods. For about a year, I've enjoyed a bowl of fishy noodly goodness about twice a week. Get all my ingredients for 'em at #HMart, a grocery chain that imports the vast majority of their goods from Asia.
Trump's #tariffs are hitting the countries which export my favorite stuff the hardest. I can't afford my fancy noodles if they cost 40% more to buy. #TinnedFish, #seafood, #ramen... even seaweed. Fuck.

I took photos of #tinnedfish at the supermarket yesterday, Spanish anchovies from Cantabria and local Italian ones. Spanish are more expensive, just over 4 times more at the cashier.
BUT ... less than 2.5 times more per kg, because the tins contain 1.70 times more anchovy.
Why was I doing all this? Because next week's episode is all about Spanish anchovies and one crucial reason that they are better.
Hint: it is isn't only the price.

for anyone that likes sardines, Old Riga "Smoked Sardines in Oil" are phenomenal.
i can get them at my local international grocery for only about $.60 more than the king oscar double layer brislings that are my second favorite, and i do believe the jar has more in it and is resealable! (and reusable)
highly recommended.

When I first started eating them (recently!) I was meticulous about removing the spine, but then I saw a guy on YouTube reviewing sardines and he removed the spine *specifically to eat it*.
So then I tried it.
And liked it.
