  1. THE FEELIES
    The Good Earth
    2009 U.S. Remastered reissue

Been a while since I’ve spun this one, as I’m usually leaning towards Crazy Rhythms if I’m in the mood for The Feelies.

This is a different album from Crazy Rhythms; it’s much more pastoral and earthy sounding, and far less spastic than its predecessor. However, it is no less excellent.

They waited SIX YEARS after that first landmark album to put this out. The band were all working regular day jobs, and getting together as time permitted to craft these songs.

    The time served them well.
It’s an album that has aged wonderfully like fine wine, with production help from R.E.M.’s Peter Buck, who was a huge fan.

A different record in the BEST possible way.

  2. THE FEELIES
    The Good Earth
    2009 U.S. Remastered Reissue

    MY favorite Feelies album.

Crazy Rhythms is insanely frenetic and great, but they waited SIX WHOLE YEARS to release the follow-up, to all our benefit.

The Good Earth is more organic and pastoral sounding than Crazy Rhythms; more acoustic guitars, some different kinds of arrangements and instrumentation, with production by R.E.M.’s Peter Buck.
“Slipping Into Something” is the top-shelf gem here. It might be their best song ever. Everything about it is perfect. Music, lyrics, everything.

    Musicians love The Feelies.
I just wish the general public loved them that much, too.

They were such a phenomenal band.
