Taiwanese Hokkien, often called Taiwanese or Taigi, remains one of Taiwan’s major languages, but its use differs sharply by generation.
According to the 2020 census, 65.9% of people aged 65+ primarily used Taiwanese Hokkien, compared with only 7.4% of children aged 6 to 14.

Why not have a look at Dundee publisher Wind&Bones' project "Tâigael: Stories from Taiwanese and Gaelic"?
The book contains a collection of original fiction in Taiwanese (Tâi-gí) and Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig), and translating between the two languages. You can explore the stories, and listen to stories in English, #Gaidhlig, Mandarin and #TâiGí here:

近幾年使用台文的店家愈來愈多，本應是好事，可是台南大學路上的這家店，位於成大校區周圍，理應是因其地域性質取名「tha̍k-tsheh」（讀冊），結果這個名字，自己的台羅也寫「tah tseh」，聽起來更像是輕賤書本的「ta̍h-tsheh」（踏冊）。

Thanks to fellows g0ver I just realised a new input was finally generated by Taiwan MoE to type #taigi. this is the first time I am able to type any #taigi. Although I still just use the voice app, I cannot stress how happy I am, as someone can speak but never able to type taigi

Back in Taiwan, and the jet-lag has worn off, so I'm back to working on my Tâi-gí. This series of videos about women's history in Taiwan is great. I'm working through, transcribing them all, and getting a lot out of it.
