Is treasa tuath na tighearna — the people are mightier than a lord. An old sentence from a wet country full of people who lost, and lost, and are somehow still speaking the language the losing was supposed to end.

Nobody upstairs can call and ask me to soften a paragraph about an Attorney General, because there is no upstairs. That is the entire product.

For National Poetry Day, the Scottish Poetry Library brings us six short poetry films by contemporary writers, all of whom have been part of Scotland’s Next Generation Young Makars programme.

Made to be watched on your phone, on your break or on your way somewhere, they offer poems in Gaelic & English on this year’s theme of “wonder”.
