  1. Stack Clean: Wytches #3

After suffering through some rough issues as I clean up my stack of comics, it was great to read a comic I could actually enjoy. This comic feels like a horror movie, with tension, surprises and art that builds a feeling of dread. It's not a series I was interested in before, but reading an issue with the story mid-stream has me curious.

  2. Stack Clean: The Eltingville Club #1

The Eltingville Club #1 is another of those comics I'm just not set up to enjoy. It was a slog through the recounting of the worst behaviours of nerds that had no glimmer of hope, humour or fun for me. There was, however a nice rendering of a d6.

  4. Stack Clean: Legacy of Luther Strode #1

I'm not the target audience for many of the comics I got in the grab bag that make up what's left in my stack. Legacy of Luther Strode #1 was just hollow for me; the art didn't do anything for me, the dialog and story didn't draw me in and I was just waiting for an end.

  5. Stack Clean: The Multiversity: Pax Americana #1

I've liked the Grant Morrison comics I've read before, but I wasn't sure I had the appetite for his take on Watchmen in The Multiversity: Pax Americana #1. The comic is well done, with beautiful art by Frank Quitely and some really compelling playing with form and storytelling.

  6. Stack Clean: Aliens: Dead Orbit #4

I found myself jumping on at the last issue of an Aliens comic, Aliens: Dead Orbit #4. I like James Stokoe's art quite a lot and he captures the feel of the Aliens universe very well. The story was exactly what I would expect from an Aliens story, with no surprises or twists on the typical formula. As a brief dip into that monstrous space, it was

  7. Stack Clean: Green Valley #3

I understand Max Landis is well regarded for writing the movie Chronicle, but this was a dreary, boring comic.

  8. Stack Clean: Betty & Veronica: Vixens #1

Betty & Veronica: Vixens #1 is part of Archie Comics' experiments that reinvent their core cast of characters for different genres. Here it's a mashup of biker gangs and the Archie gang that places Betty and Veronica at the head of an all-girl motorcycle gang.
