@bookstodon #fantasybook #pnpde

@amalia12 "so true" she typed, while listening to an #audiobook - #HeWhoDrownedTheWorld by #ShelleyParkerChan - during her time online.

Lesenswert. (via Overdrive-BW) #fantasyromane @buchstodon @bookstodon #LGBTQIA #queer #China #ShelleyParkerChan #SheWhoBecameTheSun

@sapphire I have finished reading She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan. This is a really great book with compelling characters and an interesting sort of fantastical alternate history. This is one of those where I found myself simultaneously rooting for and admonishing the key characters.

I will definitely be picking up the next book, He Who Drowned the World.

"I refuse to be nothing..."

In a famine-stricken village on a dusty yellow plain, two children are given two fates. A boy, greatness. A girl, nothingness...

Just finished this, what a brilliant book.

Historical-fantasy, set in a reimagined 14th century China, where the Mongol Khan rules over the native populace. A small peasant girl decides to overturn her fate of being "nothing". Gender, betrayal, politics and war. Just wonderful from start to finish.
