@bluberrycookie Aggiungo pure che si tratta di un mito nato in un ambiente fortemente connotato da una cultura protestante che, incentrata sul rapporto diretto tra la persona e Dio, ha letto il successo personale sia come riflesso di un rapporto migliore col divino ottenuto grazie al "fare" (io lavoro sodo e dunque Dio mi è grado e mi concede lauti guadagni).
Insomma: l'etica borghese della produzione economica come mito e polo dell'esistenza, intrisa di religione.
Non è un caso se tale lettura della realtà sia diventata tanto centrale negli Stati Uniti, nati a loro volta nel mito della 'terra della speranza', del paese ideale da costruire, che ha generato il loro concetto di 'destino manifesto' e che oggi riecheggia nell'autoconvinzione di essere the best country of the world. #selfmademan
