With #Westbahn 🇦🇹 from #Villach to #Vienna along Lake #Wörthersee and over the #Koralm line earlier today. This is a 250 kph #Stadler #RABe501 unit, built and registered in Switzerland. It’s got a buffet counter, with snacks and drinks for purchase.
The same type of train operates for #SBB on the #Gotthard line, through the base-tunnel.

An #SBB🇨🇭#RABe501 #Giruno unit at #Basel SBB earlier today. These 250 kph #Stadler #SMILE high speed trainsets were primarily built for services passing through the #Gotthard base tunnel, yet they also seem to do more modest workings, like this #InterRegio for #Zurich. Next stop: the #elvetino @diningcar of an #SBB🇨🇭#RABe501 #Stadler 230 kph #Giruno trainset on this #Lugano to #Zurich #InterCity. On the table: one of the Swiss train restaurant classics: minced meat with macaroni, Sbrinz cheese and apple sauce, plus a glass of Swiss Red 🍷.

#Zurich🇨🇭to #Milan 🇮🇹 with an #SBB #RABe501 #Stadler #Giruno unit, the first of the series for that matter: 501.001, #Ticino, the canton in southern #Switzerland. We pass the #Gotthard base tunnel at 230 kph, according to the “on-board entertainment system”, i.e. the info screen.

Yesterday, on our way south and in order to avoid the congestion on the Swiss🇨🇭Motorway A2, we took the old #Gotthard pass road. We stopped at #Wassen, right in time for a photo of an #SBB #RABe501 #Giruno trainset, passing here pending the (full) re-opening of the base tunnel.
