To rest my mind, I went for a walk in a nearby mountain, Mt. Tamaro. It makes me feel good and I needed it to rest my mind from the Nepal disaster, which reminded me of the 2010 Ladakh cloudburst I experienced when I was there... terrible.

Climbing the wall of Sambuco dam with @biglepas. We were all alone and the temperature was perfect – both quite unexpected for a Sunday with 32 °C in Locarno!
It's a fun, easy route, ideal for showing someone the basics of multi-pitch climbing. And as a bonus, one can abseil down the whole 102 m of the wall afterwards 😊

Ticino: sempre più persone senza lavoro
Ricevo sempre più messaggi da persone che hanno perso il lavoro o che non riescono a trovarlo. Mi scrivono uomini e donne che hanno lavorato per venti o trent’anni e che, da un giorno all’altro, si ritrovano fuori. Cinquantenni che inviano decine di curriculum senza ricevere neppure una risposta. Giovani costretti a passare da uno stage a un contratto precario, senza riuscire a costruirsi una vita. Famiglie che la sera rifanno i conti e non sanno più dove tagliare.
Perdere il lavoro non significa soltanto perdere uno stipendio. Cambia il modo in cui si guarda al mese successivo, si valuta ogni spesa e si parla del futuro con i propri figli. A volte cambia anche il modo in cui una persona guarda sé stessa.
Nel frattempo, in Ticino, continuano le chiusure, i licenziamenti e i ridimensionamenti. Bally, Lastminute.com e Auriel Investment, la società di Paradiso legata al marchio Roberto Cavalli, sono soltanto gli ultimi nomi di una lista che continua ad allungarsi. A questi si aggiungono molte aziende più piccole, che non finiscono sui giornali ma lasciano comunque a casa lavoratrici e lavoratori.
La nostra industria perde un pezzo alla volta: un reparto, una produzione, una sede. Di ogni caso si parla per qualche giorno, poi l’attenzione si sposta altrove. Chi ha perso il lavoro, invece, resta con il leasing, l’affitto, la spesa e le bollette da pagare.
I dati mostrano che non si tratta soltanto di una sensazione. Nel 2025 la crescita degli impieghi è stata sostenuta soprattutto dal lavoro a tempo parziale, mentre diminuiva il volume complessivo di lavoro. Verso la fine dell’anno hanno cominciato a calare anche i posti a tempo pieno. Nel primo trimestre del 2026, rispetto allo stesso periodo dell’anno precedente, in Ticino sono scomparsi circa 2’400 impieghi, sono diminuiti gli equivalenti a tempo pieno e anche i posti liberi. La disoccupazione calcolata secondo i criteri internazionali (ILO) ha superato il 7,5% e tocca più di 14’000 persone.
Non siamo davanti a un crollo improvviso, ma a un indebolimento che procede quasi senza fare rumore. Le chiusure sembrano ogni volta casi isolati; sommate tra loro, però, ci consegnano un Cantone con meno lavoro, meno competenze e meno possibilità. E le cose andranno avanti a peggiorare.
Lo Stato non può limitarsi a registrare le chiusure quando ormai è troppo tardi. Deve sostenere le imprese sane che investono, formano personale e mantengono posti di lavoro sul territorio. Deve eliminare gli ostacoli inutili, prendere decisioni più rapidamente e aiutare le aziende che attraversano una difficoltà temporanea ma hanno ancora prospettive.
Perché dietro ogni posto perso c’è una persona che torna a casa e deve spiegare alla propria famiglia che da domani tutto sarà più difficile.
