Can you guess what I did with this version? I pulled the exposure down quite far.

Now we are seeing direct light, without all those snow surfaces reflecting & reflecting.

The original photo is quite bland, but by mimicking the effect of a faster exposure, I've set a positive tone of dawn. Accurate, as it was not much after sunrise.

Would make a better book cover photo.

@ellasoul I'd really like Mastodon to be different in lots of ways to Twitter and to Instagram. Instagram has such a dominant role in the promotion of image based content now. But like everything #FuckZuck it's stuck in a stupid, sexist, patriarchal view of the world typified by its absurd bans of women's nipples and other body types it doesn't like.

Twitter allows nudity but an awful lot of it is just people reposting other people's images without permission or credit, or without the permission or knowledge of the subject.

Instagram constantly bans art/photos that include non-sexual nudity and imposes it's rules in more and more absurd ways making users self-censor until their work is 'nice' and 'bland' and inoffensive to it's advertisers.

But still, I get far more traffic to my website https://starshumansnests.com/ when I signpost to it from Instagram. But I mostly have to ruin my images with stupid censorship to avoid a ban.

Even so, I've posted, censored, non-sexual images of disabled subjects and has bans when similar images of non-disabled people have been allowed.

So, unless Mastodon picks up, I need to keep posting images in Instagram 😐
