Zuckerberg is hoping that public outcry from social media addicted users in New Mexico will sway the opinion of their attorney general, who is doing the Right Thing by standing up for people's rights.
Activists in New Mexico should get to work, drawing people in to the #freedom of the Fediverse.
Set up an opt-in registry for FB users, which will reconnect them with their FB friends, after their migration to Mastodon.

Meta is cutting another 8000 jobs, but not before they surveil their employees and use their behaviors for #AI training.
“The company told employees in a memo on Thursday that it planned to cut 10% of its workforce - roughly 8,000 staff. It said it would also not fill thousands more open jobs it had been hiring for.”
“The company just this week informed employees that it would begin tracking and logging their interactions with work computers in order to help train and improve its AI models, a move one employee called "dystopian" given the looming layoffs.”

All said and done, after the whole being caught red-handed and tried, and all the crocodile tears he cried, Zuckerberg still came out financially ahead on this corrupt deal.
Did his ethics change? Probably not. Meta is just more clever about being caught.
I have so many products from FaceBook, that were total scams. I ordered an electric lighter that was supposedly based on Tesla coil technology, and could charge from a USB port, and never needed any fuel. I got a cheap Chinese butane lighter. Zuckerberg's ethics didn't change.

I just finished reading How to Stand Up to a Dictator by Maria Ressa after seeing her recent interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show during Jimmy Kimmel's suspension.
If I hadn't already deleted my Meta accounts after reading Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism by Sarah Wynn-Williams, I would be doing so now.
The number of times I read a sentence and then said "oof." But it did give me some hope and made me grateful for those who continue to #HoldTheLine. Everyone should read this book!

If you have to use Meta platforms for any reason, here is a sanity-saving, time-saving, fuck-🖕🏻-zuck, tip:
INVERT.
- Begin your session by hyper-rapid scrolling for a fixed count of your choice. As fast as your device can load content. Do not stop to watch.
- Browse backwards until you reach the top.
This prevents the algorithm from being able to predict your actions and stagger content that is genuinely interesting to you in order to keep you scrolling indefinitely like a donkey on a motherfucking treadmill 🥕
You will know in advance how many ads are placed in the stream, and how often to expect them.
The information that the algorithm can gather from you is severely impacted, and it most certainly cannot act on it during this session.
It also limits your investment of time, energy, and focus, to just the preloaded content, short-circuiting doom scroll, and protecting your wellbeing.
Eventually, if enough people do this, Meta will adapt, but for now, this technique can be used to subvert the inhumane use of human psychology deployed by Meta. Tell anyone it can help.

I want to start putting together resources to help groups and communities migrate en masse away from billionaire backed platforms to decentralized ones. Target audience would be soccer moms, activists, college students, etc.
