Honestly it's been a bumpy few months and the last few days have worn me to a frazzle...

And then these chaps drop in for a quick hello and a walnut. Never had the cockatoos visit our little balcony before. First time ever. They arrived in silence, not making a fuss. Let me hand them each a snack before flitting away.

Been waiting years for this moment. Gonna treat this as a good sign.

On a more pop culture note, #JimmyBuffett and his music became a full on counter culture. Like The Dead, mild mannered people shed their daily grind, showed up and partied, together, in large groups, sharing everything from booze and blow, to wives and all the other adult things. That’s what I saw with my own eyes, just a couple years ago when I saw him for my birthday (think it was my 40th now that I think about it).

#parrotheads have been bootlegging his concerts, dancing in the rain, eating cheeseburgers and washing it down with margaritas, driving hours to be together, with the guy who let them be something else for a weekend, or just a couple hours.

I think part of the appeal was the fun party but when the party leads to years long friendships and gatherings, it moves into something bigger.

I think Taylor Swift and Jimmy have a lot in common, I think a lot of Swifties could relate to this feeling.

RIP Jimmy. May you always find the perfect break.

I didn’t love the pop rock melodies, my tastes run harder, but that man could tell a story in song or prose like few others. And I’ll confess to drunkenly singing Cheeseburger in Paradise more than once as an undergraduate in college.
