Hey @ACBNational @nationsblind @Unitedblindleaders hope you guys are keeping tabs on these age verification moves by various platforms locking out #blind and #disabled users, #Discord is about to start this for everyone and the #OurBlind server already had members in the UK get locked out when that first rolled out there. Would be nice to see some proactive action on this, particularly before other platforms follow suit as they are likely to do, maybe get something figured out that is both #accessible and not a privacy mess, and discriminatory, as providing ID that disabled people are less likely to have is. Deplatforming large online spaces for already marginalized groups is something I would hope you're not in favor of.

This year's theme is the same as last year, party like it's a late 90s mandatory office function held in the break room after hours because of course it's not like people have better things to do. It starts at 12:00 US Eastern on the 31st and runs until some point on the 1st, people are welcome to come and go throughout, honestly this is very informal.

As it has been a while and I could have done this better last time here’s my #introduction. I’m a #blind #parent, #braille user, and #musician. I have been blind for 5 years, learned braille over the last 3 years, and spend most of my time juggling being a stay at home dad, and staff for #OurBlind, mainly on our Discord and the r/blind subreddit. I also read a lot, mainly fantasy, mostly on my #kindle with the #voiceview #screenreader, though also read on a #Brailledisplay.

Ok got things done today, finally got the mangled install of #nvda ripped out of my laptop, got #narrator sorted for use with my #brailledisplay, and got windows updated. Also had the usual weekly voice chat on the #OurBlind #discord. We also put in a grocery order for tomorrow, and emailed the papers SNAP needed for our recertification.
