In case anyone cares, my earliest memories are of sneaking banana bread in the middle of the night. It was always inside a Wonder Bread bag and so perfectly gooey that the top always stuck to the plastic. While I ate, I'd check to see if the house lizards were near their water bowl on a nearby shelf. They were free-range lizards (chameleons?) that my dad had purchased to control the cockroaches.
