"This survey aims to gather perspectives on achieving truly equitable global open access as outlined in the OASPA ‘Next 50%’ project primer available via the Zenodo repository: http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15463314.
Your responses will inform discussions about reassessing what "open" truly means and on creating a more inclusive knowledge ecosystem. This will support a more holistic transition to open access."

The recording of the OASPA deep-dive into 'Subscribe to Open' aka S2O is now up https://www.oaspa.org/events/wayfinders-4-a-deep-dive-into-s2o-subscribe-to-open/
Really worth checking this out if you're not familiar with S2O.
The key thing to remember with S2O is that authors can make their work open access with no author-side fees under this model - it doesn't matter what your affiliation is. Enabling truly equitable open access. Diamond OA is best, but S2O is a pragmatic middle-ground and worthy of supporting too...

A longer answer to a question raised at #OASPA about the danger of open infrastructure being acquired by commercial interests this blog post was circulated in March and explains the position of @PublicKnowledgeProject in this regard. For a deeper, more detailed (more fun?) conversation catch me at #OASPA2024 in Lisbon. https://pkp.sfu.ca/2024/03/14/pkp-not-for-sale/

The Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (@oaspa, #oaspa) "is addressing challenges of inequity in all routes to #OpenAccess…We also want to avoid erosion of trust in the very concept of OA due to exclusionary practices."

📣 OA.NRW goes international!

If there's $10,000 of time and effort invested in each OA ebook, then our project has identified $40,000,000 of wasted effort due to typos, etc. #oaspa #oaspa2023 https://doab-check.ebookfoundation.org

Strong statement! Really appreciating the effort that #OASPA has been making to support and recognize other models of publishing #openaccess. Thanks to the #DOAJ and #OASPA for their new #OpenAccess #Journals Toolkit.

#OASPA Webinar – Scholarly Communication in Crisis: Research Integrity and Open Scholarship

enlightening discussion about #OpenScholarship and #ResearchIntegrity -
From the #OASPA report on why many publishing scholars still pick #paywalled #journals:
"Participants agreed that being able to secure investment from funders for platforms and ventures operating on non-APC / collective action / universal models needs to get far more normalized (at least to the level that it matches #APC funded models)."

Most of the articles published by members of #OASPA (Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association) use #CC_BY licenses.
https://oaspa.org/oaspa-members-output-in-fully-oa-journals-is-accelerating/"CC BY licenses dominate, now accounting for almost 81% of articles in fully #openaccess journals, around 60% of those in #hybrid journals."
Compare to all the OA journals in the #DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals). See the data I collected late last year. CC BY licenses were the most common but not by the same margins.
