  25. Was working on a post on how to install CML on Ubuntu desktop this weekend. As I got to the part that things were dicey in the past, low and behold that the installation covered what was done manually for a bridge interface. Blog post needs are no longer. I may still publish soon though.

  27. Super excited to see the past two weeks of work paying off. I refreshed some old skills and built a whole lot of tooling using #netbox and #ansible to fully configure a fleet of 80 routers ready to deploy as part of a customer's private LTE network.
It fully provisions the cellular interface, management port, then uses device tags to configure all the other ports depending on the vehicle type and onboard services. It ends by writing back the serial and IMEI number to Netbox.
I had to move on to other work, so I couldn't quite get it to the point of being zero touch, but each device could be configured in under 5 minutes.
These particular routers (IR1101) even have a customisable RGB LED, so I use that to report on the configuration progress/status.

"We are running out of IP addresses in this subnet, do you have any way of checking whether IPAM reserved IPs are actually being used?

"Sure, since it's an air-gapped environment, just send me the ARP table output and I'll generate you a nice #Markdown report with active links to the asset documentation in #Netbox." 😎

  30. Over the weekend I started a series that I plan on going deeper on developing Nautobot Apps. The first post on introduction of the Nautobot Cookiecutter for starting Nautobot Apps. This is the way to get started and it has never been easier to get started with your own apps and API endpoints for networking.
