"In 1969, Shirley Ann Walker James graduated from MUW not only as the first Black undergraduate of The MSCW but also as the first African American to receive a degree in business education. As she laid the groundwork for more African Americans to continue their education and obtain a degree, she continues to be an advocate in and outside the classroom."
