I think I like #Moonring because I like the idea of living in a world with no Sun, only moons. The Moon never blinded me when I staggered outside groggily in the morning.
(yeah I'm fairly sure the moons in Moonring are up to no good, but no spoilers, I'm barely halfway through the story.)

I finally tried out #Moonring. Very impressive #videogame. Available for free at Steam, Itch.io etc. Runs also on Linux with Wine/Proton (Version 9).

Oh no. One of the #Moonring updates from the past weeks broke my save-game. I resumed my session today, died on the overworld map and for some reason respawned at the 2nd level of a boss dungeon I visited a long time ago, with no keys for the exits. Great.
I really dislike games that only keep one save. It's too easy to trap players.

Features: dark #phantasy, epic story, #permadeath (optional), minimalistic but very stylish graphics, a creative dialogsystem, a huge #world to #explore, you can safe everywhere.
It looks and plays a bit like #Ultima (no 3D dungeons).
It feels simple and big at the same time and im fascinated and wholeheartedly tell you: Try it for an hour :)

I think I found a bug in #Moonring because I'm not super high level but I am straight up *INSTAKILLING* everything with this longbow using "burrowing shot" which is weirdly not costing me any energy or ever missing
and I am abusing the shit out of this right now
(this #free game is a lot of fun even when I'm losing the battles)

@Fluttermind Played for 4 hours so far and I'm loving it!
A huge amount of places to explore and lore to uncover coupled with a nice control scheme and interface, add up to one of the best classic RPG/Roguelike game I've played since Caves of Qud.
Highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a game similar to classic Ultima games and roguelikes like ToME, Caves of Qud and ADoM.
P.S. The Dungeon synth OST is the cherry on top. Would it be available anywhere?

For anyone looking for a new RPG game to play, look on Steam for Moonring.
It's a fully fleshed out RPG with all kinds of polish for those of us who don't mind old school graphics. If you're familiar with Ultima, it's similar in play style.
The dev who released it worked on the Fable series as well as other older RPGs.
The best part?
It's completely free and the dev has promised free updates as well!
The reviews are saying it's great, and I plan to play soon myself! If you try it out, I hope you enjoy!!

#moonring should absolutely be getting more attention. It's gorgeous, it's roguelike-ish, and it's full of *really* thoughtful design and UX touches that modernize the experience while preserving the retro vibe.
