Playing vanilla #Fallout4 #AnniversaryEdition #SurvivalMode no longer works for me as a palate cleanser, it’s just an experience so empty it’s soul-sucking

That’s how good my #ModCollection is getting (at least as far as the exact, unique post-apocalyptic wasteland experience that I personally happen to be looking for goes; ymmv), that playing without it is unbearable, as if most of the game is missing

But still 19 more mods left to be updated

I know I’ll eventually be happy about this week’s #Fallout4 regular update, because now I have 1024 archive slots instead of 256 for my #ModCollection but in the short term I still have 32 definitively incompatible mods waiting to be updated before I can even get back to playtesting

My #Fallout4 #ModCollection has been coming along really well. At least until yesterday, while playtesting at the Very Hard difficulty, when every #MutantMenagerie creature suddenly became a Scorchbeast-Queen-Level-Bulletsponge attacking at twice the rate of vanilla hostiles.

With #ImmersiveWasteland2 #SurvivalMode it took all week to get my character to Level 20 and into a suit of X-01 power armor with a badass combat shotgun to go full Ghoul Slayer on Croup Manor, instead of being able to do it leisurely in one sitting like vanilla

I’m still not sure how I feel about the #ImmersiveWasteland2 mod collection

On one hand, it was clearly not made for me as a gamer

On the other hand:
- it completely reinvents gameplay
- massively increases difficulty in a meaningful way while practically eliminating obnoxious nuisances
- paces progression differently, so you really have to work on building your character
- makes #SurvivalMode playable and enjoyable without replacing it with a full Fallout 76 style overhaul like Advanced Needs 76
- has a consistent, gloomy style more in keeping with the theme, setting, and tone of the franchise
- replaces all textures with grittier, older looking ones, which reinforces the style
- takes forever and a metric shit-ton of caps to get into your first suit of power armor, and all the additional differences that makes to how you strategize and survive
- comes with 20–30x the nuclear fire straight out of the tin compared to “A StoryWealth”, and a solid 100x compared to vanilla
- provides a wholly novel experience to a game I’ve played to death
- and makes for great screenshots, WTAF

So I guess I both love it and hate it equally, although it troubles me further that I can qualify exactly what I love about it, but can’t qualify the hate

One thing I’m really not enjoying about the #SimSettlements2 “going to war” questline is how captive settlers, allies, and even your own soldiers keep turning hostile on you (probably because of script-lag)

It keeps causing some serious, game breaking glitch-outs, such as the inevitable consequences of your posse of followers mercilessly executing the captive settlers you just liberated from the Gunners

Overall, I appreciate how #SimSettlements2 motivates rebuilding the Commonwealth through an improved Main Questline…

However!

I wish the questline would take into account that I’ve already rampaged my way through Gunner’s Plaza WITHOUT an army. And it would also be nice if the questline factored in the whole Depravity/Outcasts-and-Remnants/Project-Valkyrie/Reformed-Institute questlines that somehow remove the Brotherhood of Steel and Institute from potential allies to recruit for the assault.

Still. I’m finally going in with the Minutemen and the Railroad. Oh yeah. And a hefty supply of Deathclaw Relay Grenades.

The Gunners are so screwed. Muah-ah-ah-ah-ahhhhhhhh.

I was pretty cheesed the author of the #EnclaveRemnants mod designed the quest flow to rope you into getting magically captured and held for questioning by Sigma Squad with no opportunity to even defend yourself against capture. Just a bright flash then waking up in a cell, without my power armor and butt-ass naked but my complete inventory otherwise.

But then my squad showed up to bust me out, and while the only quest objective was to “escape”, I took the opportunity to go room by room, rob them blind—including their entire stockpile of power armor, mini-nukes, and MREs—and execute every last one of those fascist bastards.

Shit. I may as well have been screaming “RAMPAGE” in Archer’s voice.
