I would love to play a #TTRPG of #MicroscopeRPG that used #CortexRPG for its **scenes**. Cortex games aren't "balanced," and there's hardly any power progression at all. Instead, characters might change how they prioritize values, skills, or relationships over time. Microscope games span centuries, though, so there would be few repeat characters anyway. Instead, players would stat out a new PC for every scene, which could happen three or four times per session.

@benrobbins - _Finally_ In This World made it to this playtester in Austria. 🤓
I love my physical copy, and I hope it will in time see so much play that it will look like my copy of Microscope, my favorite story game. 🔬
If you haven't seen it, it's a neat and tight little world-building game, where you build a world out of statements that are true about the world you know. 🫴🌍📖
Give it a try, and let me know how it goes!

The Microscope experience was bonkers. I didn't use it to play Microscope. I used it to explain the rules. It did so famously. Including knock on questions about the palette vs big picture using examples to explain the lens.
The bonkers part is using the voice chat in the android app. (headphones icon in the top right corner). We just talked in normal language. Seamless across BT on the commute to work.
PS not in the industry :)

To conclude, I'd say that associating #MicroscopeRPG and #QuestWorlds was a terrific idea. My players, all new to #ttrpgs had a huge blast. Building a world through that game was exciting to them and the lightness of the #rpg system was liberating in many ways. I'll call that a success.
Now, let's see what #Kingdom gives with #QuestWorlds. Let's already call it QuestDom. Soon... 5/5 -

As some of you know, I've recently experimented a creative approach to #ttrpg using @benrobbins's #MicroscopeRPG followed by a few #rpg sessions with @Chaosium and @ian_h_cooper's #QuestWorlds. We played on @foundryvtt & #discord.
The worldbuilding session gave a tyrannical scifi world full of cybernetics & my players were very keen on playing an event about the disappearance of the Marathon, a starship that made contact with a new species and that ended up in a very long intergalactic war. 1/5

@kitwinter I was, for a long while, known to carry decks of 3x5 index cards around—not just to play #MicroscopeRPG! I don't know that it rubbed off on anyone. For a minute I was looping a long bootlace through the spiral binding of my notebook so I could sling it over my shoulder like a satchel. I know at least one guy picked that up after me. A songwriter.
There are definitely times when I think to myself "what would [friend] do?"
In a #CortexRPG that's one way to play a Relationship trait.

Non-prepping up for a mash-up game I've long wanted to moderate and run: "Quest-O-Scope", starting with a session of #MicroscopeRPG then with 3 sessions of #QuestWorlds.
Recruitment is under way, and I'm very looking forward to getting started. More about all that soon. @benrobbins @ian_h_cooper @Chaosium #rpg #ttrpg #jdr -

Our history ended up being about wizards having to hide after a religious purge, then working to control things behind the scenes. Eventually, they use elemental magic (which is a science in this world) to travel to space and found an empire. And apparently the Arch-Mage whose assassination triggered the need for mages to hide rises again to lead it?

#Introduction for the #TTRPG crowd: my #5and5

3. #Exalted Essence
4. #FateRPG (#VentureCity by way of #BNHA)
5. #MotW (my #SCP hack!)Want to play 😩:
1. #MicroscopeRPG
2. #ScumAndVillainy (I've already played it I just want to play again)
3. #GlitchRPG
4. #ThirstySwordLesbians
5. #AliceIsMissing -
Played #MicroscopeRPG for the first time last night. Fantastic world-building game, and I love that you get that and the interstitial "normal" role-playing.
Probably my favorite game design detail: there are decisions made in the game which nobody is allowed to discuss or collaborate on. It is up to one player and one player only to put in their input without having to filter it through what everyone else in the group thinks. Every player gets to make a decision that's truly theirs.

@MJPsycs There's also @benrobbins' "West Marches" which you might've heard of. He published a worldbuilding game #MicroscopeRPG to facilitate this kind of open campaign, and he's got a new worldbuilding game coming out!
Microscope is easily my all-time favorite tabletop game. It brings out just absolutely mind-blowing creativity. I own a couple of his other games, but I've never even looked at them because I just always want to play Microscope. 😅

“I haven’t had an interaction with my dad like that since we played first edition D&D together when I was a kid.”
I'm not crying, you're crying!

@alice @[email protected] +1 to the welcome :)
Fun fact: this post appeared in my timeline because I follow the #MicroscopeRPG hashtag :)
I bought it and read up on it, am very interested, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. -
