@Mastodon What happened to the image viewer on iOS? With all due respect to your work, it has become absolute garbage a few weeks ago. I can no longer bear the pain that comes after trying to tap on an image. Was it vibe coded by zero oversight and QA? Are there any plans to fix it or revert the changes?

(If I'm the first one complaining about this, happy to elaborate.)

Whoever is responsible for the Mastodon iOS app, can we please allow selecting text again? It’s a huge blocker of not being able to select and look up or translate text. And some people might actually want to copy text from posts…

Disclaimer: if this is a known gap and I’m just making noise, apologies!

When I share a toot from the #MastodoniOS app to an iMessage thread it doesn’t generate an inline preview of the toot. When I open that same toot in Safari (even in the inline browser window within the Mastodon app) and then share, it generates the preview. Screenshots attached to show the behavior.

Does anyone know whether this is something I can fix? Or is this just a pending thing for the iOS app?

I am tweaking @icecubesapp for Mac to see if I can get the readability and decent photo previews I’m looking for. Coming along!

Which is your favourite #Mastodon iOS app? I’ve tried the native #MastodonApp, #Metatext, #Mastoot, #Tooot, #TwidereX & the #Mammoth beta.
I think my favourites are the native app and Metatext so far, although I understand that development on the latter has stopped.
What what be a killer for me is an app that shows both toots and tweets, like #Twidere on Android.
I know #Tweetbot is developing #Ivory but I wonder if #Hootsuite or #IconFactory, the makers of #Twitterrific have plans?

Swapping between iOS mastodon clients. For a quick catch up on the Home timeline I tend to use #Mastoot as I love the unread toot counter, but for catching up on the Local timeline I use #Tusker as #Mastoot does not allow one tap timeline charging or holding position on any timeline except Home.

Why is the official #MastodoniOS clientnnot allowing unlisted replies? #mastodon

@mvyugo @SpockResists Some servers have seen a 100x increase in just two weeks, in one case, going from under 200 users to over 10,000. Not sure many servers anywhere could handle that sort of increase without a few glitches.

The web version seems to handle stress better (and has features the apps do not), but my experience has been remarkably glitch free over 10 days of being here. 🤞 🍀 🙏

Mastodon’s web UI has some pretty fantastic features:

- “Advanced” (multi-column / TweetDeck-style) mode
- Follow hashtags (maybe the posts will still show up in the iOS app? But no way to follow new hashtags from there.)
- Private notes on your follows

Hoping these make it to the iOS/iPadOS app at some point 🤞 #mastodonios

I did enjoy using the #MastodonIOS app last week for a change (it definitely looks and feels slick), but I think I’m going to return to #Tootapp, which feels more robust, fully featured, and I like the way it handles complex threads

#LibremSocial is a fork of Amaroq, which is still shown on joinmastodon.org as an #MastodoniOS option, even though I cannot see it in the App Store. Last updated three years ago and might have been for one instance only? Every time I try to add mastodon.social the whole thing crashes. Pass on this one. 13/n

I prefer #metatext over the official #MastodoniOS app. It has a much cleaner UI, aggregated threads and supports the federated timeline. Haven’t tried Toot! yet. Is it worth a try? Opinions?

Current biggest issue with the iOS app is that if I search for a # it doesn’t let me find it. It shows a lot of very niche ones, but that one is nowhere to be seen, so no way to see it. Wonder if it’s related to traffic issues?
