#metatext — Public Fediverse posts

I've just (re)discovered @Feditext - open source native #iOS fediverse (and #Mastodon in particular) client.

The app is a fork of the good old #Metatext app which is no longer in development. I personally loved that app very much.

It's not yet available in the appstore and you need TestFlight to install the app. But I hope, they'll publish it so everyone could see what a good app it is :)

I’ve been having issues with the official Mastodon iOS app for a while now, maybe since iOS 26. Images not loading, feed not refreshing, reach the bottom of the feed and the spinning wheel never stops/loads. Profile pages not scrolling correctly. I finally switched over to #Metatext and it seems to be working much better. Anyone else having issues? #Mastodon #iOS

Feditext beta users: version 1.7.2 build 145 fixes an API decoding issue with media attachments that can prevent posts and timelines from loading. while this could affect any Fedi server, it was happening more frequently in the current GTS RC. that's likely to be fixed by GTS in their next RC.

also, we forgot to announce it 😅 but previous build 144 fixed the Open in Feditext share sheet action on iOS 18 and 26. it should now work for any iOS version we support (15–26).

Could the button sensing areas be enlarged? 🙃 I'm forever missing the star & opening posts & threads. Or often opening the post below or the account profile of its author when I'm trying to interact with the post above.

Anybody else? Or just my fat fingers?

it also switches to an account-specific search API method for looking up accounts based on username and display name only. for Mastodon users, this may result in slightly faster autocomplete lookups and fewer false positives. GTS users should not see a difference. please report any issues with other servers.

this doesn't change how Feditext displays quotes; as with other instance types that already support quote posts, Mastodon quoted posts will be displayed as special links. tapping them will display the whole post. full quote post support is pending.

När jag nu börjat använda min nya smartphone har jag insett att min go-to Mastodon-klient, #Metatext, inte finns tilllgänglig längre. Utvecklingen av den har tydligen legat nere ett tag. Vad ska jag nu använda då?

Does anyone know what happened to FediText? Mine just stopped working … and so did its older sibling Metatext.

I’ve been trying other apps and hoping FediText would start working again… but no luck so far.

I have 3 #free #mastodon #apps on my Iphone, #mammoth, #metatext and one I forget. :ablobblastoff: All very #different and they go to different #instances. I haz 3 because I #STILL #carrot/can not #transfer #settings, data, flowers/followers, between instances/servers.

I am beginning to #realise … let it all go. START AGAIN! :ablobslurp:

Maybe social media is too complex for the stupid? … wait that can’t be true … I AM HERE 🫂
