I thought for a moment they switched to smaller tiles for this season of M.League, but it looks more like they just zoomed out the cameras a bit, and maybe changed the angle slightly?

Here is my ruleset for Cuencana Mahjong. Lots of credit to Alan Kwan, as a lot of my rules are based off his Zung Jung variant- this is an offshoot of Zung Jung It is still a rough draft, criticism is welcomed and I will likely make changes in future.

Think I finally finalized the philosophy ideas for my #mahjong ruleset.
Zung Jung is the base for what I'm doing- after playing around a bunch, I think it's a good balance between strategy and simplicity, but I am going to add a few things- and I think I can now explain my reasoning
1) Flower Tiles. These are going to have two uses. You can discard them as safe discards- similar to discarding a joker in American mahjong- or if you have multiple flowers, you can meld them. Melding flowers will score based on what you have. They're not just bonus tiles, but they're not jokers either.
2) A few added patterns to encourage medium value hands. ZJ seems to have an issue of lots of low value and high value hands. Added a few patterns that I think will help with that. Straight patterns, flower meld patterns, and ruby/jade/pearl dragon.
Flower melds can be used in place of another meld for some mid-value patterns, but not in limit hands.3) A minor furiten rule. You can't win on a tile in your discard pile. That's it. No other form of furiten. Helps allow folks to figure out safe discards.
4) Elimination of the dead wall from ZJ. WIth furitan and flower discarding, defense got a big boost. This is to decrease the odds of exhaustive draws.
5) Score style changing. Folks hate the idea of negative scores/losing score in Ecuador. I divided ZJ scores by 5, and changed payout to
self-draw 5x/0/0/0
discard 10x/5x/5x/0This does make self-draw wins a bit less rewarding, 6x would be the match, but 5x is easier math, and no one goes negative.
Think I've got my ideas down now, I just have to put it all on powerpoint. I wish I knew how to edit graphics, SD mahjong club has some great slides, I'd just need to add patterns.

Somehow got too few tiles on Tenhou :neofox_googly_shocked:

well, I did *not* bring home a trophy for my #delica at the All Mitsubishi Cookout show this past weekend. turns out the ultra-competitive category known as "miscellaneous" is too tough (sigh).
I did, however, set up my #riichi #mahjong table so I could teach japanese mahjong from my japanese van.
(it was mostly for the photo op, lol.)

@SnoopJ is there an intro to #riichi video or tutorial you use to get complete novices up to speed, especially for absolute beginners who don't have much background with the language, character set, or tiles? #bostonWeekend #mahjong #boston

Invisible Parade: Learning Mahjong with AI help. “A number of my dad friends play Mahjong, so I figured this would be a good time to finally take the time to learn to play. I’ve been able to use AI tools in a way that makes learning extremely efficient (at least I think so).”

Riichi, tsumo, pinfu, ✨ryanpeikou✨, ura 2; baiman :neofox_bongo:
(I miscounted at first, hence the 6200 instead of 8200)

Can anyone explain to me why I couldn’t tsumo here? Maybe there is a rule I don’t know about? It’s just that in this version specifically, there are numerous cases where I think I should have been able to tsumo or ron yet the game didn’t allow me. I’ve never had that happen in the previous versions. I’m just a bit confused.
