  1. That was a very interesting conference, lots to learn and new encounters. The R&E community doesn’t face the same challenges as the general tech industry. But I think sharing more experience between the two would be useful.

Keep an eye on the presentations when they’ll be published. A lot of them are worth watching. The conference value lies in the networking though.

  4. Changing context can be useful sometimes. Let’s see what there is to learn here.

  8. For #LeadDev I wrote about creating Technical Visions for projects or organizations that are compelling and meaningful to team members leaddev.com/technical-directio

  9. This week, I heard it was mentioned by Shaun Lewis from O’Reilly Media in a #LeadDev session on measuring performance in teams.

Later, someone told me Giffgaff had been talking about it too when discussing team morale.

It stopped me for a second. Not in a “look what I built” way, more in a “this is actually landing with people” way.

  10. @ramsey As so many eng leads (including @hazelweakly who I am only tagging to say thank you & you were great!) said at #LeadDev this week: Data can lie. 😅 They keep trying the same thing and expecting new results. I have questions where the truth actually is on this one. 🤓

  11. Theory to Action: Architecting and Implementing Your Team Operating System

~"Engineering teams operating system: evolving rhythms, processes, silos, and tools to guide how your team collaborates, communicates, and executes."

  12. Reflecting on an incredible experience speaking at @TheLeadDev's #LDX3 conference last week! Very grateful to have been accepted as a speaker and for the amazing support throughout.

I enjoyed discussing challenges growing teams in the era of layoffs, and hopeful that my talk can provide some inspiration by treating teaching as a core engineering skill, applying lessons from pedagogy. Slides here 👉🏻 speakerdeck.com/alismith/creat

  17. So many speakers at #LeadDev #LDX3 shared links to look into later, and I've found many more when I started following those up.

This post should be handy for me to keep track of them all, and for anyone else who might like to see if anything grabs them. Enjoy!

  22. Are there good practices documented somewhere for testing related to database datasets? I'm struggling to be satisfied with a good definition of a relevant dataset. What use cases should i ignore and how to efficiently maintain this dataset along the addition of new tests (and data)? Any tips to share? #tdd #testing #database #php #dev #development #leaddev #bestpractices #mysql #mongodb #postgresql

  23. Exactly a year ago, together with Giorgos Ampavis we had the honor to share the stage at the #LeadDev Berlin conference to tell all about the migration from native mobile development to #Flutter that we have performed at Tide - the leading business financial platform in the UK with >10% market share.

The recording is now up on my YouTube! 👉🏻 youtu.be/zuOdjy9SWio

  26. Back from conference travels in NY, and returning to my usual schedule of coding streams! A number of folks I chatted with at #LeadDev were curious about what watching a developer stream their day-to-day work looks like, so here's an official invite. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I stream myself developing from 1PM until I finish for the day (usually at least 3-4 hours, sometimes more if I'm in a groove.)

Drop by twitch.tv/brainbetter to watch! I'm building a jigsaw puzzle game in #Godot4 using C#. I'm told it's nice second-screen viewing if you miss the vague sense of having a co-worker at the next desk over while working from home.

  27. Which is why it felt like a bright omen when, on the heels of that conversation, I saw that the talk videos from the conference had been posted. When I opened the page on my phone, I saw myself. #LeadDev chose this enby to represent the speakers for this year’s conference in the header image. It gave me an answer to that question: I’m sure there are people who don’t take me seriously because of how I look - I’m sure for almost any speaker, that’s true, especially folks who don’t quite look like the stereotype of a tech leader. But the folks who know this audience - the team behind the conference - believe those people are not the majority. I was proud to show that photo to my parents. And I’m honored to get to represent the amazing speakers I met in New York in this little, symbolic way.

  28. It's just under an hour until I'll be speaking at the @TheLeadDev webinar Does your org need platform engineering?! Looking forward to my first webinar as a panellist - alongside some excellent people - and to share some of my experiences with #PlatformEngineering and #DeveloperExperience for the lovely #LeadDev audience - it's not too late to sign up to join!

  29. It’s so disappointing that #LeadDev and so many who are part of that community are only engaging on Twitter. I miss following folks like Laurie Barth and Taylor Poindexter.

  30. Ok, I'll do it #LeadDev

    I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

  31. Join Giorgos Ampavis and Anna Leushchenko at #LeadDev in Berlin to hear the story of Tide's transformation: how #Flutter technology helped improve lead time to market, optimize for engineering capacity, achieve feature parity easily, and more!

  32. Love to get an email from #Vercel: You’re off the waitlist for Next.js Conf 2023 and are officially registered. despite never registering for the event. I also can't unsubscribe because (allegedly) This email contains important information about an event you registered for and cannot be unsubscribed from.

Regretting signing up for their prize giveaway at #LeadDev London, especially as this isn't the only thing I've been emailed about but can't unsubscribe from of theirs 🫠

  33. Still can't quite believe this happened, yet here's my brand-new #LeadDev article! 🤩🎉 "Growing an experiment-driven quality culture" leaddev.com/process/growing-ex

  34. Very appreciative of the wonderful folks at Lead Dev for a complimentary ticket for the upcoming Lead Dev London - I've heard it's a great event so I'm very much looking forward to go and learn from some really awesome folks 🤓

Sachant que le #CTO reprend régulièrement des casquettes de #leaddev et #PO... #ctpolead
Et fait comprendre que les gens font de la merde alors q'ils se défoncent au travail...
