Someone said that “if you can run Keep on the Borderlands with it, it’s OSR”.

I’m pretty sure that’s not true. I of course immediately tried to think of the most story game way to run B2. My first thought is reverse B2 using No Country for Old Kobolds.

What’s the most indie way you would run the classic Keep on the Borderlands?

We took 15 minutes to roll up new characters, and the players got right back into the action with a clever little twist of story that justified the new characters watching the old ones get bodied and then coming in to finish the fight.

Basic D&D on the 50th anniversary was the right call for sure!

Prepping #KeepOnTheBorderlands for tomorrow night's 50th anniversary #dnd session. It's been really fun and instructive re-reading the basic rules and this module. Like, there are several creatures in here my #LowFantasyGaming campaign has used to great effect 50 years later. Maybe there really is something to the theory that every #ttrpg really is just an iteration on these rules.

That said, I expect a TPK tomorrow night, no question.
