The Sunday crew decided to pause our #elementalApocalypse #Dnd5e game and test drive the new 2024 edition for a few sessions.
We’re big #Greyhawk fans, so we’re using the setting material from the #DMG and heading to the Ciry of Greyhawk.
Get out your bell bottoms and get ready to disco - we’re heading back to the 70s! (common year 570s that is … )

Prepping to run my #ElementalApocalypse campaign, which I haven't done in ages.
I hate/love I get some of my best ideas two hours before game time.

Back to our #RuinsOfAerdy campaign (our second #ElementalApocalypse game). We're venturing into the slowly-flooding mines beneath Broke Pitch Gulch in the fallen Great Kingdom. #DnD #TTRPG #RPG

Working on a battle map for tonight's #DnD #ElementalApocalypse game. It's actually more of a playtest. I'm trying to figure out:
1. Dynamic light in Roll20 with light AND darkness effects.
2. Whether I can use my iPad Pro + AstroPad as a tablet for drawing maps in Inkarnate.
3. Whether I can use Apple's own Continuity feature to do the same.

Time for #DnD and the #RuinsOfAerdy campaign (the companion campaign to our other #ElementalApocalypse campaign, both set in the World of Greyhawk after the Temple of Elemental Evil rose).
And look, we made new friends!

Arter Boundless, making new friends in the #elementalapocalypse, as is his way. #DnD

Doing some research on the #Shadowfell for an upcoming #ElementalApocalypse game, in which the heroes go up against the shadow dragon Morsinth.
The dragon believes that the victory of the Elemental Princes - and their universe-ending lord Tharizdun - is inevitable, and seeks to retreat into the shadows and darkness.
Too bad he captured an angel that the heroes need to get back.
I'm envisioning the dragon's lair straddles the Prime Material Plane and the Shadowfell, with weirdness in between.
-
Back to #ElementalApocalypse, where the Heroes of Hope are battling shades under the control of a black dragon (perhaps a shadow black dragon?) who believes the world - and multiverse - are doomed to be consumed by Tharizdun's entropy.
-
Same battlefield ... but with a fireball temporarily illuminating the swamp.
This is very cool. I'd like to figure out how I can make the darkvision effect that I (as the DM) see show up as black-and-white. As is, it's hard for me to tell what's regular vision (from torches, fiery wings, etc.) and darkvision. #Roll20 #DnD #ElementalApocalypse

Time for more #ElementalApocalypse. The Heroes are continuing their trek through the foul Hool Wastes in search of an angel who fell to Oerth. #DnD #DnD5e

Spending a not-so-lazy afternoon working on my #ElementalApocalypse campaign for #DnD. The Heroes of Hope are battling their way through corrupt Hool Wastes, fighting demons, undead, and worse.
Naturally, I need to find a few more enemies for them to fight. Good thing I brought a few books... #Greyhawk #DnD5e #TTRPG

Experimenting with using #DnDBeyond to create a custom black dragon for my #ElementalApocalypse.
Morsinth - the Creeping Death - is is an adult black dragon ... and with the shadow dragon template and the spell-casting variant.
I may beef up the spellcasting; I find those rules to be underwhelming in 5e.

The Helm of Positivity came into play during tonight's #ElementalApocalypse game, in which the paladin Valinor summoned a wall of radiance.
And damn, is that thing bright or what?
The shadows I'd planned to ambush the party with were forced to retreat from the brilliant light, which also revealed their original corpses in the nearby lake.
Those corpses - nicely pickled - led the group to suspect there is a black dragon lair nearby. #DnD #DnD5e #TTRPG #RPG #Greyhawk

Next up - pulling together tonight's #ElementalApocalypse adventure.

After a long weekend of camping, hiking, and driving with the scouts, I'm relaxing by doing a little campaign maintenance for #ElementalApocalypse and checking out #DeliciousinDungeon.

Time for more Elemental Apocalypse as our heroes head into the Hool Wastes. Not sure if we'll end up using this battlemap, which was an experiment in quickly drawing a map for the game. It took about ... 15 minutes? Maybe 30? #ElementalApocalypse

Continuing with the chaotic mess that is #AquamanAndTheLostKingdom while working on encounters for #ElementalApocalypse.

I need a Big Dumb Movie while I futz around with my #ElementalApocalypse regional map.
#AquamanAndTheLostKingdom should do the trick.

Working on my #ElementalApocalypse campaign, which mostly consists of me running from the first to the third floor and back again to get more monster books.

Quote of the evening for #ElementalApocalypse
"I'm here as an orifice, not as a weapon." - The local manifestation of the Shy One (a colossal mimic recently befriended by the heroes), who appears as a small chest and maintains an extradimensional connection to its main body.
-
Late-night geekery as I work on my #ElementalApocalypse campaign and start the second season of #WheelOfTime
-
Switching gears from #CyberpunkRED to #DnD5e with our next session of the #ElementalApocalypse "One Shot" campaign (the companion campaign to the one I'm running).
-
Normally, I might just use a pre-made version of the Oerth map, but this is #ElementalApocalypse - the world is in a BAD WAY and the map needs to reflect that (more volcanos, drowned coastlines, more wastelands, etc.).
-
Finally got to introduce my players to their new ally ... a colossal mimic who colonized a cave system.
The mimic previously ingested a high-level gnome illusionist, which had given rise to certain unexpected enhancements as the two personalities merged. It used a combination of physical traps (created by its duergar servants), illusions, and sculpting its own mass to test the characters.
I think it was just the right kind of weird for the #ElementalApocalypse campaign.
-
Prepping for my #ElementalApocalypse game. The maps were drawn weeks ago, but I needed to pull together tokens.
Oh, and to figure out how the final encounter is going to work.

@morrus Stealing this image for my #ElementalApocalypse campaign. :)

Given the cat-and-mouse, Robin Hood-equese story we've got going (in which our heroes, located in the Caverns of Hope, fight back against their oppressors in the Burning Keep) it's feeling like wiping up a 1-mile-per-hex local map would be helpful. #ElementalApocalypse #KeepOnTheBorderlands #DnD

Playing around with #Worldographer for my #ElementalApocalypse campaign. Hexcrawl-style map, with the base hexes being 6 miles (underlay hexes are 30-miles, which is the #Greyhawk standard).

Firing up #Worldographer to build out a hex map for #ElementalApocalypse.
