Currently playing around with indoor locations for an outdoor map in #Inkarnate

I want to take advantage of Roll20's reveal functionality (which let's you show the interior of a building as the PCs enter it)

I think this means I draw the underlying map first, then export the buildings/tents as individual objects.

We'll see how it goes.

Das Wetter in Deutschland sieht ja nicht nach Schnee aus, um so mehr macht es Spaß am schneebedeckten Kong Pi zu arbeiten! Hier eine weitere Iteration der Karte. Sind ja inzwischen schon Abenteurer dort unterwegs, deswegen gibt es nur noch kleine Änderungen. Mehr Vulkane, Kraterseen, Hügel und Wälder.

This is the sort of thing I could easily wing when playing in the real world - I just needed a pre-game sketch, and then could draw things out on the battle map in real time.

I decided to go with the hand-drawn map (on graph paper) as the easiest and fastest option.

But now I’m thinking I could have done a similar map in #Proceate (an iPad drawing program). Or a hybrid sketch + art stamps map in #Inkarnate.

Playing around with #Inkarnate with my #MothershipRPG funnel in mind.

I don't *need* super detailed maps for this, but I may want them.

And heck, Inkarnate has four kinds of cryochamber (five, if you count the broken one...)

Turns out #Inkarnate lets you save textures as favorites, so you can easily re-use tweaked textures on another map. #MapMaking

Astropad Studio worked ok with my map experiment, despite the fact that Inkarnate is a browser-based app (it's really meant for drawing in a dedicated Mac or Windows app).

Astropad duplicates the computer display, so I could quickly refer from the tablet to my monitor.

I wish the "magic gestures" let me pinch-zoom when working with a map, but I liked that I could program shortcuts.

Messing around with ideas for my shadow dragon lair, which will be located on the boundary between the Shadowfell and the elemental-ravaged prime.

Currently figuring out the lighting effects. Two characters have dark vision, one has low-light vision, and the dragon itself can wrap itself in low light/darkness effects.

First up: experimenting with sector maps for #Starforged

Swamp encounter map set in the Hool Wastes for my #ElementalApocalypse #DnD5e campaign. #inkarnate

I may have gotten a bit overboard with my physical geography here. Limestone mountain formation to the north, more usual mountains to the south, a glacier in between. Mountains are partially snow covered. I think the glacier looks pretty correct.
Enough of the geo-geekery. Making a scale bar with #Inkarnate is now much easier thanks to the new line drawing tools.

Für den Content nutze ich gerne #midjourney oder zeichne mit #procreate und #inkscape bzw. #inkarnate selbst... 🙂

Als Abschlussbadges nehme ich außerdem meistens einfach einen quadratischen Ausschnitt aus der #lernlandkarte des Themas! 🙃👇

One of my favorites, a bandit camp in the Greypeak mountains. Like the other maps, created with #inkarnate and made for Bugbear Awakening, this is a location of the earlier parts of the adventure, where the kidnapped brother of young wizard Narida is held captive.

This is Glaurachyndaar, or Myth Glaurach, a ruined elven city located in the Nether Mountains. Although it protected by a mythal, it was overrun by orcs. Later it was inhabited by an army of demon-elves (or fey'ri) only to be soon abandoned again.
The city was built on a hill, consisting of 3 concentric circles with the Tower of the High Mage at its center.

A map of Glaurachyndaar (or Myth Glaurach) located in the Nether Mountains of the Sword Coast. The ruined elven city was built on a hill with concentric circles of walls protecting it and the Tower of the High Mage in its center.
I (re-) created this map using #inkarnate based on information I found on the web. It is the final site of Bugbear Awakening, haunted by a newly emerged threat to the elves of the High Forest.
