Sometimes I see users getting upset about things they read about on the FediBlock tag: most of us are posting some of the most vile things written by the most disturbed people on the network. Much of it is upsetting, sometimes even INTENDED to be upsetting, and the screenshots we post are picked to be the literal worst examples we find.
YOU shouldn't have to see that.
I look at #FediBlock and #InstanceBlock as a tool for people doing #Moderation: we're setting aside time to glance over these, non-emotionally, to block these people and servers on your behalf. (At least, I HOPE other mods do that: you shouldn't engage with a misery-feed 24/7)
For Non-Moderators? If you're on a server where you NEED to look at this stuff in order to block it, MOVE SERVERS: Moderation should be blocking these people so you never see them.
Don't expose yourself to this.

Hey everyone,
I’m heartbroken to say that I’ve reached a point where I feel I have no choice but to ask you to block mastodon.au. Over the past few days, I’ve watched as Linux’s harassment went unchecked, and even after I reached out directly—tagging the admin, pleading for them to take action—nothing changed. In fact, the admin doubled down, defending the very behavior that was tearing our community apart.
That’s why I reported the original hateful posts here:

It hurt me deeply—because I’ve come to love how we protect each other on Mastodon—and to see that spirit ignored felt like a betrayal.
Worse still, the admin has now turned that same hostility toward Indigenous people, a community that has already endured so much. When someone in a position of power starts targeting a marginalized group, it crosses a line in my eyes. It’s no longer just about policy—it’s about our humanity.
I know many of us log in each day to connect, to learn, and to support one another. That’s why I’m asking you, from one friend to another, to stand with me: please block mastodon.au. Let’s show that we won’t abandon our values or let hatred slide. Together, we can keep our little corner of the Fediverse safe and welcoming for everyone.
