I'm trying to imagine an #IdealWorld where no one rules over another to their detriment, where everyone is young, abled, healthy, wise, curious, & immortal.
Where women control their own bodies including their own reproductive system — no menstruation once a month. They can choose when to prepare for pregnancy and have a chid. People have kids about once a century or less.
There is abundance with patience, peace, generosity, and hospitality. Where #Diversity & #Individuality is celebrated.

A Different World
What the fuck?
How terrible it’s been trying to find a job. I was saying to n0xman earlier today, if you’d told teen year old me that this is what it would be like to get a job, she would have looked at you wide-eyed, shaking her head in disbelief, “No way. You’re lying!” she’d have said. Never in my years did I think it could be this way.
As a 20 something, walking out of the educational world and into this… whatever this is, I can’t help but feel like it’s a war-zone, not least since there are so many wars going on around me at all times. And now I look at the world – just like her – and another me holds me by the shoulders “Yes!” she says, “This is your reality. This is the real world.” and I look at the chaos behind her shoulders. In front of me. And I can’t believe that it’s this bad.
My childhood was messy. I was an unhappy kid at heart, because things at home weren’t great. I think I thought maybe the world around me would have changed. That it was just x y and z that was particular to my life at that time that made it so bad. But now, in my 20s, here it is: The same world I looked out at as a kid. And like putting two and two together, I’m almost shocked at the result. Like there was supposed to be a wall separating, like magnets on the wrong side, repelling one another.
The issue of fixing yourself in a broken world…
There’s been a chunk of time where I didn’t need to think so much about the world. We were bunkered up and focused on saving money and healing. It was damn hard (not a choice), and yet, it was a privilege. As much I hated being stifled, we were walking out of a safe haven and back into a dark, suffocating cloud pelting bullets. The only course of action available to us was to stand in it and watch it scratch you up, watch your wounds crack open again after all that work. That’s what it was like looking for work.
Well I’m always thinking about the ideal world. Have been since I was a kid. I was forced at every moment to have to think about how I’m not perfect enough, not good enough, how I have to change and fix this and this and this. And the thing is, I did, and I’m here, and that in itself seems somewhat of an issue, because what happens when you’re not the problem? What then?
The issue with other people…
And as I said, you think about how to make it better and give it your all, but then you can’t keep up. You’re only one person. This is an entire world, and there are so many people, and most are just trying to get by, but then nothing gets fixed. We all just need to “get by”, and so we’re incentivised to pretend that it’s all fine or bark down the dreamy youth or enable the abusers, put them on a pedestal. If you shake your head to say that’s not the case, then why is it controversial to hate on the number of people who have so much wealth you can’t even find the energy to finish scrolling to witness it? How in the hell did we get here?
Believing myself…
So I go on Reddit. Share my thoughts… feelings… insights… perspectives. It’s hard work, but I’ve learned to stop doubting. At some point you have to make the choice. It’s always a controversial one, because everyone hammers you over the head with ideas they learned as a kid – that you’re wrong because [shame], because [fear], because that’s not how we do things, humans. But I grew up in abuse, followed fear and shame to its core to see its face. It doesn’t scare me as much anymore.
The world around us is modelled on making a victim doubt themselves. It’s the entire abuse thing – it’s how it works. There seems to have been so much of this, that we learned to nurture a habitual state of denial like it was a baby in an incubator. We look at truth like it’s an evil hag waiting to steal the baby from the cot. The truth: an ugly abuser! And now you can’t even hate a trillionaire.
Then you look out at the world and here it is, everything you’ve always known, and despite your respite, you’re back. You have to be, to live.
art by our own, n0xmanHope?
Some of us are fighting the good fight. We’re trying. But when I’m down I wonder how realistic it is to still hope to build that ideal world. We can teach empathy, but can it truly overcome those big blue blocks?
Rarely I feel like there’s no point trying. At least if you try, there’s more of a chance of changing things. There’s no point not trying, especially if you can. What would be the point in anything? But I just wonder if we’ll plunge into World War 3 anyway. You grow up in a world where there was a World War 1 and a World War 2, and the whole ‘things happen in 3s’ runs over the skin of your back like the bone cold fingers of Slender Man, waiting.
And yet you have to keep trying, and you’re forced to value all the things that give you even a tiny amount of xp to keep going. Music was always there, but these days you cling for dear life to those thin branches that might help you stay afloat in the flood. Because now it really is life or death. In the end, what’s there left to do if you don’t keep trying? Even and especially after growth. But I guess I’ll never get used to the shattering world as it stands, a frozen pocketful of cuts that hint at a picture that never fully forms.
